What you can expect

Experience the glory and grandeur of royal Bangkok on a half-day tour to the Grand Palace and the Thonburi Klongs. First, cruise the scenic ‘klongs’ (canal ways) of Thonburi, see waterfront landmarks like the Royal Barges Museum and Wat Arun, and get a glimpse of everyday life in the former capital district. Then, explore the Grand Palace of Bangkok and admire the Emerald Buddha in Wat Phra Kaew, one of Thailand’s most precious religious icons.

You will be collected from your hotel at 7.30am and head towards the Chao Phraya River to board a traditional long-tailed boat for Thonburi. Chao Phraya River with its many canals had originally given Bangkok the name “Venice of the East.” Passing by boat along the canals you will see the life of Bangkok’s waterways unfold with busy morning activity. See impressive sights such as the Royal Barges Museum and the Wat Arun, which literally means “Temple of the Dawn”.

The Grand Palace is the “must see” attraction in Bangkok. It is an architectural wonder of golden stupas, walls and pillars encrusted in shining and colorful mosaics. Having served as the residence of past Kings of Thailand between the 18th and mid-20th centuries, the architecture is predominantly Thai, although there are many European influences throughout its halls. The most famous building within the palace grounds is Wat Phra Kaew and this is regarded as the most sacred Buddhist temple in Thailand. Construction of the temple began when King Rama I moved the capital from Thonburi to Bangkok in 1785. The main temple building houses the Emerald Buddha. The Buddha is carved from a single piece of jade and is the most revered object in Thailand. After this visit, you will enjoy a drive through the streets of Bangkok and be delivered back to your hotel at approximately 12:30pm.
