What you can expect

Discover the remains of Masada with its extensive Roman ruins. Visit the lowest place on earth, the Dead Sea, and take the opportunity to float in its reportedly therapeutic water. Observe the Qumran Caves and learn the history of the Dead Sea scrolls from your knowledgeable guide.

Journey out of Jerusalem for the day and head towards the sea shore, calling it in at the famous Ahava cosmetics shop and browsing their products. Continue along the shore towards Masada and ride the cable car to King Herod’s former fortress at the summit. Allow your guide to point out the important archeological remains, including palaces, a synagogue, mosaic floors, and Roman baths.

Descend the cable car and travel back to the banks of the Dead Sea. Here there’s a chance to swim or float in the salty water lying nearly 1,500 feet (450 m) below sea level. Understand the extensive health research occurring in the region and see if you begin to feel the benefit. On the return to Jerusalem, pass the Qumran Caves, the finding place of the Dead Sea scrolls—ancient manuscripts of significant religious, historic, and linguistic importance.
