To start the lunar new year right,\u00a0we decided to seek expert advice to point us in the right direction. We consulted with Fengshui master, Master Goh Guan Leong, who shared with us which are the best places to go in 2015 for each\u00a0Chinese zodiac sign.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe recommended countries are places where the zodiac signs can tap on auspicious energy, and are selected based on each sign\u2019s favourable directions in 2015,\u201d he states.<\/p>\n
Using the Chinese horoscope, Master Goh\u00a0advises where best to travel for good fengshui depending whether you are a tiger or\u00a0rabbit.<\/p>\n
The overall best dates to travel this Year of the Goat? \u201cMarch is the month of Academic, which makes it good for overseas study and self-enrichment trips.\u00a0June, August and October are known as months of Wealth in 2015, and are good for business trips,\u201d advises Master Goh.<\/p>\n
Australia and Africa are\u00a0auspicious destinations for the Rat in 2015.<\/p>\n In Australia, Tasmania<\/a> is where you should go.\u00a0Choose from hiking through awe-inspiring national parks to contemplating modern art and antiquities at the controversial MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) in Hobart<\/strong>.<\/p>\n In Africa, some top to-dos include pondering on the ancient Pyramids of Giza<\/a>, getting up close to wild beasts on a Serengeti safari, and gawking at the spectacular Victoria Falls.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n For the Ox, bullish destinations in the 2015\u00a0Chinese horoscope include China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.<\/p>\n In China, we suggest climbing the Great Wall in Beijing<\/a>, cooing at cute pandas in Chengdu<\/a> and staring down Terracotta Warriors in Xi\u2019an<\/a>.<\/p>\n If your itinerary is led by your tastebuds, there\u2019ll be plenty to feast on in gastronomic Hong Kong<\/a>, and at Taiwan\u2019s famous night markets.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n For Tigers on the prowl for some pop culture, this is a good year to head to Japan and Korea.<\/p>\n Shop Gangnam-style in the\u00a0trendy, upmarket area of Seoul<\/a>\u00a0known as… Gangnam! It’s a great place to start before heading to the shopping districts of Dongdaemun<\/strong> and Myeongdong<\/strong>.<\/p>\n In Tokyo, Japan<\/a>, unleash your inner otaku<\/em> (geek) in the city\u2019s countless anime and manga shops, such Nakano Broadway, Mandarake, Yodobashi \u2013 the list goes on.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Hop out to the United States of America, rabbit friends! USA is truly vast, but some leading destinations for you according to the Chinese horoscope include lively, buzzing New York<\/a>, cultural Chicago<\/a>, hippie, personality-filled San Francisco<\/a>, razzle-dazzle Las Vegas<\/a>, or laid-back San Diego<\/a>.<\/p>\n Or you could also consider a road trip across the mid-west. We don’t have much opportunities for road-trips\u00a0in Singapore. So it’s a great chance\u00a0to have a big adventure on the great American roads. Especially as the rather different landscape in the US offers sights galore!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Many options abound for the magnificent Dragon, from Russia<\/a> and China<\/a>, to Taiwan<\/a>, Hong Kong<\/a>, India, Pakistan<\/a> and Nepal<\/a>. The colourful, sensory sights of India would suit this fiery sign, from the monuments of Delhi<\/a>, to exotic Pondicherry<\/a>, and the glorious Taj Mahal.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n It\u2019s India, Pakistan, or Bhutan for those born in the year of the Snake. We\u2019d love to head to the tiny Kingdom of Bhutan <\/a>for its amazing Himalayan landscape, happy people, idyllic towns and monastries, and inexplicable magic.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Where will the Horse gallop to this year? Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, says Master Goh.<\/p>\n These destinations are only short trips from Singapore but offer plenty to do, from exploring the streets in increasingly trendy Penang in Malaysia<\/a>, to island-hopping in Thailand<\/a>, and getting lost in the atmospheric Old Quarters of Hanoi, Vietnam<\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Year of the Goat sees this leading zodiac sign hoofing it to USA<\/a> or Australia.<\/p>\n Like USA, the Land Down Under offers shear…we mean, sheer variety for the Goat traveller. From the Great Barrier Reef<\/a> to the Outback and cosmopolitan cities, your itinerary can cover anything from adventure to road trips to urban living and indulging in the delightful Aussie caf\u00e9 culture.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Monkey see monkey do! Those with the Monkey zodiac sign should follow their friends whose signs also point them\u00a0to China, Russia and Tasmania, Australia.<\/p>\n For the adventurous, Russia excites with old picturesque towns, the Kremlin in Moscow<\/a>, and of course, St Petersburg\u2019s Hermitage. \u00a0Be sure to sort your visas out way in advance!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Rooster flies the coop to Australia, Tasmania this year for an invigorating holiday. Tasmania is looking like a pretty popular choice in 2015 hey?<\/p>\n For some R&R, Tasmania\u2019s beautiful natural landscape is the perfect setting for some of the most scenic wilderness lodges or spa resorts. Cradle Mountain <\/a>is a favourite destination which offers walks and jaw-dropping natural scenery.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n For the Dog,\u00a0head to the home of Randy Jackson – the USA.<\/p>\n Nearer to home, Malaysia<\/a>, Thailand<\/a> and Vietnam<\/a> are also favourable destinations, where an affordable treat would be to check into one of the region\u2019s boutique hotels.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n And the little piggie went wee wee wee all the way to\u00a0Russia, China and USA.<\/p>\n All massive destinations, so options abound, depending on what floats your boat.
