YEHS was in a great little spot, close to Southern Cross and easy walking distance to a lot of shops/restaurants. Ting was wonderful, and helped us get settled and ensured our stay was lovely.

Beautiful decor, lovely ginger flower scent throughout the entire hotel, nice buffet breakfast, polite attentive staff.
However on check-in I was allocated a room in the bottom floor with a view on the 2 arcades roofs and a tiny view on the river not worth mentioning! I specifically asked and paid for River view which was $100 dearer.
Upon returning to the checking counter the lady made a disappointed doubtful face. She had given this room which was the only one ready at the time (wonder why!!) when I had said we were early and not in a hurry as we were going to lunch.
She found in a minute a room on the much higher floor with full river view but still being cleaned, that we didn't mind coming back later.
That room was all I could ask for, beautiful views on the City and Yarra River. Such a shame we were first allocated a passable room hoping we wouldn't dare to complain.

"The bay room views are wonderful. The rooms were spacious, although the bathrooms are curious with an added changing area without seating or a place to hang clothes/robes. The walls are thin, however, and noise carried between rooms easily."

I also asked for an extra bed in a large king room for my nephew who wanted to stay and was told there wasn’t enough room when the room was the small size of a one bed apartment! They said it was for fire safety ..."
