Great base for exploring the area
Great place to use as a base to explore the area. Not much directly around the property but it is walking distance from Ambleside's pubs and restaurants. Room 1 was nicely renovated, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent!

Wonderful hospitality and great location
We had a wonderful few days in Ambleside, staying with Tina and Steve. Everything about the guest house is exactly what we wanted. Clean, friendly, great breakfast, etc. It is a perfect location for visiting Ambleside in the surrounding area. Highly recommended.

We had four nights at the Wanslea..Close to town but still quiet / Very nice people / very clean / Good breakfast and well organized with no awful music / A nice big TV with quite a few channels./ No dogs / Free parking close by. (ask before parking.) All good , we loved it.

Absolutely fabulous!
Perfect location between the town and lake side with parking available. A beautiful building with gorgeous and immaculate rooms (Africa for us). The perfectly cooked breakfast to start off the day before those walks was very welcome. What ultimately sets this aside above all else are the hosts Steve & Tina. From the moment we arrived to the second we left we were looked after impeccably, we left as if we had known them years. Their recommendations and help planning our days were invaluable and thus we had an amazing memory filled anniversary break. Don’t think twice get it booked! Thanks again. It was absolutely fabulous and we will definitely be back. J&C

Lovely time away
If your looking for a place to stay then look no further. The rooms are spacious and every amenitie you could ask for. The owners are polite and friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. Full of knowledge of the area and answered all questions. Breakfast was to die for. Loads of choice and plenty of milk (I love glasses of milk with my breakfast) Would we stay here again definitely and can't wait to return. Don't forget to say hello to Charlie when you visit

Great little place...but not a luxury location
Based directly across the road from the main garden centre and a 5 minute walk from the main village, location is fairly good. Although too much rain and the road into the village floods. Parking is an issue, although the hotel provides a parking badge for a car park 2 minutes away. This can also be used for free parking at other car parks in the area. Breakfast was incredible and a very comfortable eating area. Only minor issue is that the place needs a more thorough clean. We found hairs around the bath and the room was dated in certain ways, but did not detract from the stay.

Lovely guest house across the road from a garden centre which we enjoyed looking around. Apart from the wet weather, it was a lovely stay and the hosts were friendly and kind.

Ambleside Gem
The hotel is situated about halfway between Ambleside village and lake Windermere which made it the perfect place for us to stay . Very nice rooms , fantastic breakfast and made very welcome by Steve and Tina ...we will be back !

Great weekend in the Lakes
The whole stay was tremendous. Excellent hosts, fantastic rooms and a truly delicious breakfast. Plus some great perks, including a TV with Netflix and free parking. Would stay here again without hesitation.

All round great choice
Stayed in room 1. Big room with comfortable bed and luxurious bedding. Quirky furniture and lovely pics on the walls. Excellent shower. Good choice for breakfast and fast friendly service. Location ideal for Ambleside and the lake. Lots of walks high and low/ long and short are possible straight from the door. Would definitely stay again. Good value.
