This is the best place I have ever stayed. The architecture is amazing and the views of lovely Nakano are outstanding. Everything about this place is stylish. You even get Sun Plaza yukata, coasters and headed note paper. The swimming pool is also unexpectedly brilliant with tonnes of lie-down jacuzzi slots and a onsen/sento area. If you don't know this place, get in quick because they're knocking it down soon to turn it into something rubbish.

A minute from the metro/JR line. Clean. Nice staff. A bit old but with facilities such as a “proper” gym and swimming pools (you know they are hard to come by in Tokyo), for relatively good prices. One thing so so terrible: in-room wifi. NO IN-ROOM WIFI! There might be, but really weak and unreliable I couldn’t even check my emails. Had to get out to the lobby only for wifi every time.

Hot and stuffy room, unhelpful staff
I was very unimpressed with this hotel. Not sure if it was my mistake or hotels.com's mistake, but I was booked for a single bed, smoking room when what I needed was two beds and non-smoking. Hotel staff were not good at re-accommodating us. When we did eventually get a new room, it was a single bed, non-smoking room. It was facing the sun with no options to cool it. (No air conditioning and could not open the windows.) I eventually ate the cost of the reservation and booked another hotel somewhere else.

Everything about this stay was great except that the air condition did not work in any of the rooms. The rooms were regularly over 25c (77f) and got very unpleasant to stay in especially after using the shower. The staff did provide a fan for me upon request but I would have preferred the AC to work. As I understand it they can only turn on the AC for an entire block of rooms and weren't willing to do that in March.

I needed to stay in the Nakano area and this hotel was the closest to Nakano Station, it was a very short two minute walk out of the station gates. The hotel is on the upper floors of the Nakano Sunplaza building, accessible from the elevators at the back and to the right of the ground floor if entering though the main doors. I mention this because I wandered around for a bit as there were no onvious signs (at least in English) giving directions to the hotel inside the building. Staff was welcoming and check in was fast, the twin room was quite spacious compared to the average Japanese hotel, it was very clean and comfortable. Large shopping arcade just across the street (fronting the station) as well as Nakano Broadway which houses a myriad of little shops, many of which in the upper floors are similar to what you would expect to find in Akihabara. Tons of eating options inside the shopping arcade and along the little alleyways surrounding it. English menus might not be readily available everywhere but it’s Japan after all, be adventurous!

Comfortable Stay
We stayed at Nakano Sunplaza Hotel for one night. We took the limousine bus which runs from Haneda Airport to Nakano Station North exit, costing only ¥1,230 per person. It stops directly outside the hotel entrance. The hotel is business style with lobby on the 16th floor. We booked a Japanese style room which was on the same floor as the lobby. The room was good sized & quiet, with separate toilet & bathroom. Water pressure of shower was strong, felt really refreshed afterwards. Beds & pillows were comfortable enough for a good night's sleep. Fast free wifi in the room & lobby kept us connected. There are plenty of shops & great choice of restaurants nearby. Breakfast was not inclusive so we did not order any. Overall we were happy with our stay. Moreover it was a redeemed free night, only paid around £21 of tax. Couldn't ask for more!

Great Stay @ Nakano Sunplaza Hotel
Rooms are above the hall/ballroom so there is a need to change lift every time. Room size is good for a Japanese hotel. Near JR/Metro line. Lots of eating place and some shopping.

larger than average rooms but poor breakfast
Big rooms, excellent location. I just hate the boring and bland breakfast, which doesn't meet Japanese standards. Sure it looks nice, but there has been no variation for all the years I have had to visit here for business. I would go elsewhere for breakfast but as we travel as a group, it's easier to meet in the hotel.

Decent sized rooms
This is your usual business hotel but with slightly larger than average rooms on Japanese standards. Still pretty small compared with other countries however. Everything clean even if a bit dated. Staff speak a little English which is nice. Breakfast must be improved. It's been the same for the last few years I've visited here. You get to choose Western or Japanese and then what you get is the same everyday. It's also a little annoying you have to collect a paper ticket for breakfast. They should modernise the breakfast system, increase the variety day-to-day and make the meal more substantial. Otherwise, convenient for work as close to offices in Nakano. Note: hotel reception is in the 16th floor.

Very nice hotel and close to the train station.
This hotel was a welcome relief after 12 hours of flying from Melbourne Australia and a few hours of navigating the trains and crowds from Narita Airport through Tokyo to Nakano. You need to use the side entrance at night and the reception is on the 16th floor but once you get your bearings it works well. Staff are excellent as are most in Japan, very friendly and checking in and out is a very easy process. We stayed two nights in a room that faced to the north and then decided to stay a third and they gave us a room facing Tokyo central and the train station, this one costs a little more but was very comfortable and was worth it for the view at night.

Hotel staff not approachable. Example when I check out, did not even ask me do I need safe keep luggage service. Room in average not cool even I temp down to 16Celsius. Fitness facilities provided by 3rd party need to pay a fee yen 1080. Should not advertise as facilities provided by hotel.

Rude staff, miniscule room size, poor location
Hotel is on top few floors of aging building in an area of Tokyo not at all close to anything and with almost no restaurants or shops where English is spoken. Even for Japanese standards the room is tiny, and the only TV channels are Japanese. Food so-so at ridiculous prices. Staff is rude and unaccommodating: asked for a 15-minute extension to the 11am checkout and they wanted 10% of the daily room charge and even appeal to the manager resulted in no satisfaction. Stay away from this hotel!

Nice view, quiet, really accessible
I got the room facing the train station and the view was great! The room is quiet but the lobby might get a little noisy with the fans who are queuing up for the concerts held there. 5 mins walk from the nearest train station and bus stop. Surrounded by many places to shop and eat. Staffs are very friendly and accommodating and allowed me to put my bags at the lobby when I reached a few hours before check in time. When I went back to check-in, they had already helped me put my luggage into my room! Really great experience, highly recommended especially if you're here to watch a concert at their concert hall.

Excellent location. Tiny rooms
Location is right next to Nakano station. Hotel is located on the 16th floor, offering excellent panoramic views over Tokyo. Windows do not open and the ventilation is only adequate. Hotel staff are courteous but only a few of them speak proficient English. They are extremely rigid on hotel rules such as check out time and will persist in calling the room if one is only five or ten minutes late. The rooms extremely small and are rather tired in the 1980's style, which some might find retro-sentimental, but adequate value for what one is paying. Recommended for single travellers who are looking for a budget hotel.

Room and staff are much more like a 3.4- 4.0 star hotel. The only issue about a higher star rating is the fact that there isn't multiple restaurants on site only near by.

Business hotel
I have clients in Nakano so this is convenient. For sightseeing it's a bit out of town though. Rooms are however bigger than average and you can comfortably open your suitcase and still walk around the room, unlike the average hotel in Tokyo. Breakfast is expensive and bland so would recommend getting that elsewhere. Wifi was intermittent on 19F so was hard to do work without technical issues.

Nakano Sunplaza Hotel: excellent choice in Tokyo
Nakano Sunplaza Hotel is my first choice in Tokyo. It is easy to make the reservation on Expedia, and check in & out go well. Even though the staff speak and understand limited English, it is very easy to communicate with them. The Hotel is on the top floors of a convention center, so you may be a little confused on your first visit, as there is not a sign outside the hotel indicating that it is a hotel! The hotel lobby is on the 16th floor. Taxi drivers understand "Nakano Sunplaza Hotel." Be sure they drop you off on the side street, where the entrance is ground level with a revolving door. The restaurant on the top floor provides a very good breakfast.
