Although a bit old is great! Pool, fitness and spa are great. Bit expensive if you have to pay for breakfast separately. Good place, shame that Singapore has changed a lot and is not that simple anymore… apps apps and more apps and not much information around.

Five star hotel with excellent staff services. It located by the Singapore river with a lot of restaurants along the river. Shopping mall and MRT station are just across the street. About 30 minutes walking distance alone the river to all the downtown attractions such as Garden by the Sea.

The Grand Stay prides itself on being a paragon of luxury accommodation. Yet, my recent stay presented a puzzling paradox. Upon arrival, my initial impression was favorable. Our room, complete with a coffee machine and kettle (amenities most hotels provide), exuded a pleasant ambiance, and the bathroom mirrored this positive outlook. However, as I settled in, a series of mishaps chipped away at the promised luxury experience. The first dissonance was a stained bathrobe – hardly a testament to their vaunted standards. This was further compounded by the housekeeping staff's oversight. They left behind a dirty towel, neglecting to replace it with a fresh one. To top it off, the presence of drops of dirty water stains on the entrance floor on another day added an unwelcome touch. Considering the price tag, I was entitled to expect a more refined level of service. While the room itself was satisfactory, the housekeeping blunders detracted significantly from the promised air of luxury. The Grand Stay seems to be caught in a paradox – boasting luxury but delivering a standard, even slightly subpar, experience.

Food and drink in the hotel expensive and the space around the pool is limited but otherwise very good. Very helpful friendly staff, good accommodation and great location.

Front desk was very helpful when I needed to find an urgent care facility late at night. They recommended a good hospital and called a taxi for us as soon as we were at the front door. They could also arrange for a doctor to come to hotel to consult. We decided to go to the ER instead. They provided water at the door. The hotel is next to shopping mall, restaurants, beautiful area to walk around, 5 minutes walk to Chinatown and subway station is next door to the hotel. We will stay here again if we come back to Singapore.

My 3rd stay at the Paradox Singapore Merchant Court. The room is clean and spacious with a comfortable king sized bed and a bath tub to relax in. The lovely pool is another great place to relax. The receptionists are friendly and efficient. The location is great and convenient for transport, shopping and meals. Breakfast served at the Ellenborough Market Cafe is impressive and the waiters and waitresses are polite and helpful. Overall, we had an enjoyable staycation here. Thank you!

Would be a 1* review except the cleaning staff was very friendly and diligent. As a frequent traveller to Singapore for work, I can objectively state there are much better options in SG in the 4* bracket. It's a tired, old hotel and it shows. The fish-eye picture view of the "luxe" room is borderline fraudulent; it's Paris-size tiny! Plus, "luxe" includes a balcony view of the grey office building right outside your door (which also doesn't open properly). Don't bother with the pre-checkin email they send you (including $100/night pre-auth on your CC) as you'll still spend 5 minutes when you check in giving them the same info again. Oh, and despite the pre-auth, you won't be able to bill anything to your room (bar, Cafe, etc.) unless you ask them to let you when you check in (they're supposed to ask but I wasn't and it's frankly embarrassing when you find out after ordering a drink and have to trudge back to your room to get your credit card). On the plus side, the location is convenient (but where in SG isn't?!) and I guess the wifi worked well enough. TL;DR: Just go somewhere else and save yourself the disappointment.

A well positioned hotel .
We stayed in an Executive Twin Room with Club access. The view to the river and Clarke Quay was great and the room was of a good size. The breakfast in the club was adequate with fruit, yogurt and very limited cereals. There were also a couple of cooked options. It could be improved by being able to order eggs dishes like omelettes and poached eggs. The canapés in the evening we’re okay . A salad dish would have been nice. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. All in all a place I would recommend to stay. Well positioned on the river next to the MRT and you can walk to most places.

Convenient location for a short stay
Our checkin experience wasn't great. We acknowledge we arrived early and we weren't expecting our room to be ready. We were given access to the executive lounge which was part of our booking and were told our room would be ready by 3 pm. This was fine by us. What wasn't fine was that our room still wasn't ready at 4 pm! We were again offered access to the executive lounge.... We just wanted the room we had paid for. The room itself overlooked Clarke Quay as requested. Located on level 4. The bed was comfortable and the room had a nespresso machine. Milk was in sachets. The room was immaculately clean. Executive lounge had a nice assortment of food at breakfast as well as evening snacks and drinks. The pool area is pleasant enough. The hotel itself could do with a bit of a freshen up outdoors and in the corridors - its a bit tired and not like in the photos - a bit green and mouldy. Handy to Clarke Quay MRT

Paradox Merchant is conveniently located in the heart of Clarke Quay - easy walking to riverside restaurants and Chinatown, with Rail and bus transport directly adjacent. Hotel is a clean and tidy. Our room was a bit squeezed in a corner location and a bit cramped but well appointed. We had little interaction with staff but they were all friendly. Facilities a bit disjointed within the hotel - spa and bars are run independently and have to be paid separately from room charge. Overall a pleasant stay in a great location.

The property is in an excellent position with Clark and Boat quay easily accessible for dining options. The MRT is about a 5 minute walk and we used it every day as so easy and convenient to use. The whole area is spotless and our bedroom was too. We did not use the pool or eat in the hotel but we were happy with the room despite a view of a roof. One night the fire alarm went off at 1am. We all had to exit the building - no staff were there telling us what was going on or directions and no explanation the next day as it was a false alarm - that needed improvement. But apart from that no complaints !!
