Requested for a l(complimentary) ate checkout through 3:00PM, hotel would not grant (and would not give a reason for the denial. this is a beautiful property with an amazing lobby and lounge. We did not go to the buffet restaurant as it was Chinese new year and very busy we ate in the lounge, and the food was very good and as well as service.

Very beautiful and comfortable hotel in an upscale and walkable neighborhood with lots of shopping, restaurants, and coffee shops. The hotel restaurants are delightful. Best of all are the extraordinary staff. They really value and pamper their customers. If you can splurge for it, go for Horizon Club Lounge for that extra comfort and privilege. The whole team there are absolutely amazing. Not only would I stay again at Makati Shangri-La without hesitation, I would strongly consider returning to Manila just to stay at the hotel as a destination.

Check-in was very slow. The hotel is under renovation. Rooms are a little run down with wall paper dirt marks and stains same as the carpet. We were in 19th floor and the room was dusty. We even found a blade in the shower. Everyone tried their best to give a great service and it was a busy time of the year— New Year’s Eve. There are other newer hotels around the area that is cheaper and cleaner.

The hotel was beautiful however management lacked kind hospitality in comparison to cheaper hotels. We informed them about our early arrival and needed an early check in. Just a couple hours early but management refused and wanted us to pay for an extra day despite them having rooms available. We explained to them that we are senior citizens and just got off a 14 hour flight but to no avail. However we were offered the gym area to freshen up by their kind front desk staff. Their staff was amazing!!!

While this hotel offers great security, lovely Christmas decor, malls galore within walking distance and an abundant breakfast, it is lacking in service and attention to detail from the staff. I had an issue each day of my stay. There is an odor of moisture in the air in the lobby, hallways and rooms. I came back to my room and a device to “refresh” the room was there. Later an ionizer was put in the room. I was never notified. We changed rooms which is always a hassle. I had to complain repeatedly to get a refund for the night stay, for being in a room that clearly had an issue. We had trouble finding an IT person who could cast Netflix from an iPad. The person who helped us walked into our room without even speaking. The attendant and breakfast walked passed me 4 times and never once served me, but helped the man across from me who got a mug for coffee and we got paper cups. The women’s changing room/spa in the gym doesn’t allow children so l wasn’t even able to steam, sauna, jacuzzi or relax. I asked if she could just sit in a chair while l steam for ten minutes. While l was in there the attendant gave my 10 year old daughter a release form for her to sign MY signature! She’s TEN! Crazy. On the last day, l met Frencie who seemed to “get it.” She apologized and said that she would address the concerns & arranged a car for to the airport. Overall the hotel, the music and the food were great, but for the price, Shangri La Makati has a lot of training to do with their staff.

Return to the Shang!
Had a few problems with the room as the smell of paint and white spirits pervaded the room. They were good and moved me but the second room was no better so we went on a hunt the non-smell room. Disappointed that the bar was not open and it will not be until sometime next year. they still seem to have stock shortages and at midnight no-one knew how to make an old fashioned and service was slow. Staff in general were fine but sense they are still trying to ramp the hotel up after its long closure. The gym and pool are great, bed comfortable and the transportation service was excellent as I suspect that the hotel is nowhere near cap[acity. Xmas display was great as it was pre-pandemic. Overall the hotel needs filling, went to the Peninsular bar for a drink and the hotel was heaving.

The hotel amenities are very good as well as the staff. However, its buffet breakfast wasn’t worth it for the price. Very disappointing, to be honest. Very limited choices and can hardly cater esp if guest is a non-Filipino. For my 3 days of stay those very limited menu choices were exactly repetitive. If I may suggest, the hotel needs to be creative and plan for great choices. If. not, then just tone down the specified price. Hotel has to consider catering to non-asian guests as well when it comes to menu availability, esp that Makati Shangri-la is located in the country’s central business area. There’s still more room for improvement.
