Clean and tidy but shabby shared house
For the price, it was just what we needed. A clean place to rest our heads for one night! It was a bit shabby however with light fittings falling off and stains on walls. Plug access was an issue as they all seemed to be behind desks or tje bed headboard. Internet was also very weak and often not accessible...however we have unlimited data so wasn't an issur for us.

Clean but noisy
The room was fine, clean and comfortable. The shower head attachment was broken making it hard to shower. The problem was that someone was coming in and out between 10pm and past midnight, talking really loudly. That was not ok. Hope the manger doesn’t do this on a daily basis, making it hard for guests to sleep.

Deluxe room review
As soon as we entered the room, the room smelled of something bad. The toilet doors were also broken so could not lock the door. Bed sheet had someones blood on it. Would not stay there again.

The accommodation is poorly kept. I booked many days in advance to attend a conference in ExCeL. On arrival I was given Room 11 which is a loft-conversion and had to protest to be given a better room for the night. When I left for the conference following morning and came back to be re-accommodated it was to the same room to which even a 5-footer (5ft tall) will struggle to stay without repeatedly hitting his/her head on the roof. I had to call Hotels.com that night for a refund. Certainly not recommended.

This is the human nature ! When we gave you free upgrade (private bathroom) you were vary much happy and next day as you promised will back to your room which is you booked( double room with shared bathroom) We run long times never had problem but thought if you get free upgrade then would get great feedback !

the price was jacked up because of the concert we went to. So not great value for money. If it was the normal £42 then it would have been fine .

This was a fantastic stay. The room was excellent value for money. I don't think I could have found anywhere else in this location in London for the price I paid. The gentlemen on the reception was really geat too. I would definitely recommend this hotel/B&B. Its also a great location to the Excel building with just a short bus journey away.

Spider web hotel
I didn’t expect a hotel room with spider web all around the room and the chadanlier in the room. They don’t even have a customer service at the front door. I have to call for them three time at the front desk.

Slight hiccup picking the room key up ... owner was very apologetic... not a lot to do in the area 30 minute walk to Stratford ... 5 mins from Plaistow tube station ... bedding nice and clean but shower needs fixing ( shower head kept falling down ) ok for 1 night for the price but I would not stay again

Very pleasant
hotel cleanliness good. very helpful staff and room very pleasant. Have paid alot more and not really got a lot better. A five minute walk from plaistow station just get to Clegg street and keep going (turns into stopford road). a budget stay that is not a major headache. Just the other side of Plaistow station are two cafes for either a greasy spoon, or a more upmarket panini and latte.

Don't bother
This was a guest house and the owner and his family lived upstairs it wasn't what I expected. I didn't feel secure in the area which ironically was a short metro ride from Canary wharf . The owner was polite and courteous. The facility was as basic as possible the bed was ok and clean , but not a single coat hanger in the wardrobe, iron was not clean and the ironing board was broken, no secure lock on the door dangerous wiring in the bathroom

Extremely cheap and it shows, you get what you pay for. However it is clean and *reasonably* close to London, so it is worth it if you're on a budget.

Small room, friendly welcome and good stay.
I was attending an event at the Excel Arena, so the Metro Star was a good location. Nearby shops are convenient. It was walkable, although I used Uber as well. Clean room, internet, TV and shower, so everything you need.

A good guest house
Confirming previous +ve reviews ~ Owners of Metro deserve a good report. Not 4 star but clean, tidy. A well kept accomodation. Rooms are good. Good comprtable bed. Not that noisy road either (I like it quiet). Just the job for basic nights stay. Close to Underground Station. Message for Metro:- suggest you add photos of rooms to your details ~ a room plan would also help people see what they're getting. Well done.

The room was superbly comfortable and nicely heated. What's more, the hotel staff were extremely accommodating, going above and beyond to make me and my lady comfortable. I'd definitely come back.

A refreshing stop in a homely neighbourhood.
Exquisite! A diamond in the rough. Nice staff, very spacious and well decorated rooms with all needed for your comfort! I was given a lucky upgrade as a welcome present and it was quite an enjoyable night. Safe, very quiet and good value for money. I would definitely be stopping by in the nearest future! Try it.

The hotel was not clearly marked, only had a house number outside it. It was very far out of London. The television did not work and I was moved to another room on the third night of my stay. The bath had no plug and there was no attachment on the wall for the shower. The room was clean and comfortable and kettle and hair dryer were available. The area was almost at the end of the underground line and being my first time in London I should have done more research. The Manager was polite.

Basic but clean. No breakfast.
The hotel was in a slightly dodgy area and more of a house full of rooms rather than a hotel as there was no reception or breakfast facilities. However, although the room was basic, it was very clean and the towels were clean and fluffy. Shower gel was provided and there were tea and coffee making facilities.

Shower sprays everywhere
The hotel was OK in general but the heating was full on when I was 26 degrees outside all I had was a fan which just circulating hot air around. I could open the window but cause it's a open from the bottom style window it had way of propping open, so I had to use a tissue box the window frame had a massive on the side of it so all the sounds where still getting in and being on a busy road didn't help, thankfully I was round the back of the hotel so the noise could have been a lot worse. The en suite bathroom which I paid an extra £28 pounds for the shower was the big issue the shower hose was broken and split so turning on the shower was a complete nightmare it got more water on floor than on me, even with the shower screen closed the water was spraying over it on to the floor. The room door didn't latch so you had to manually lock it aside from that and no reception desk that was it
