This is a unique property on an island in the San Bernardino archipelago. You take a 2 hour boat ride on a covered 30 person speedboat which is bumpy if windy or choppy seas. But once you get there, it’s total relaxation with nothing to do but tan on one of the many lounges hammocks or rafts at their small personal beach. They have a small spa with some good massages. Breakfast lunch and dinner are served with love and care and there is so much food, you might gain weight on your vacation! They do have WiFi but encourage you to Disconnect from the World as their motto says. Mostly French, German and American tourists but the property is large enough that you have your privacy. The staff is the most warm and professional and accommodated our every need. Junior suites are the best with a open terrace on the beautiful turquoise ocean.

Real quality "do nothing" time
Took the boat to Punta Faro and was met by Sergio, an extremely nice man, who explained the island to the new guests in Spanish and English. We spent 3 nights at Punto Faro, bobbing in the incredibly blue waters, drinking cocktails from the extremely well priced bar, eating from the buffet and napping in the hammocks. There are even hammocks in the water. There is snorkeling and scuba diving and kayaking if you want. Or you can just bob in the water (be sure and bring a slice of bread from the buffet for the fish), nap, drink and eat. There is a boat ride around the local islands included and that was fun.

Escape from reality
This place is pretty close to perfect. When booking a stay on a secluded island you always run the risk of being let down and ultimately stuck on an island that doesn't deliver or live up to your expectations. This is not the case at Punta Faro. Beautiful beach, beautiful rooms, three amazing meals each day, delicious drinks, kind and helpful staff and great water activities. The wifi is spotty at best, but who cares? Disconnect and enjoy. I could go on and on, but there's not much more to say other than, treat yourself, look no further for your island getaway and book here. You won't be disappointed

Hidden Caribbean Gem!
AMAZING stay, wish we were there longer than 3 days. The island is remote but has all the luxuries you would need for beach life indulgence. Friendly staff, GREAT FOOD (all meals inclusive), although most of the staff don't speak English so be sure to brush up on your Spanish.

Relaxing
I stayed one night and it was enough for me. The island itself is super lovely. I loved the hammocks on the water. The hotel staff was very friendly and the food was pretty good. The only downfall was the guest room. It needs some refurbishing. The shower door did not close. The sink on the right would not stop running and although we notified the front desk, maintenance never showed up to shut the water off. We ended up shutting the water valve ourselves. The hammock and rocking chairs outside of each room is a nice touch.

Beautiful secluded space on a gorgeous beach
What an amazing hotel! Booked a sea view room (highly recommend if you are considering, much nicer than the basic rooms). Room was beautiful, the staff was lovely, and the beach and water were so pristine. I had read comments that the food was only so/so, and was very pleasantly surprised at how great the food was. We happened to be there when they were releasing some of their rehabilitated turtles back to the wild - so special to see! We do not speak Spanish aside from some basic phrases, and got by just fine. One note, it is confusing on how to get to the island and I had to have a Spanish speaking friend call a few times to get the information. It is 1.5 - 2 hour boat ride there, and the boat leaves at 11:00 from Cartagena to the island, and then leaves the island at 10:00 back To Cartagena. Highly reccomend!

Very nice island retreat
Punta Faro is based on Isla Mucura, a beautiful tropical island which you reach after a 2 hour boat journey from Bocagrande. The island is very well maintained, with an idyllic private beach, great water for swimming (quite rare around Cartagena / Santa Marta). You are free to explore, although the island is small so there's not a huge amount to see. We kayaked around the island, which takes the best part of an hour, and that was one of our favorite parts of our stay. Rooms are clean and comfortable, but fairly basic, with no hot water, which is understandable given the remote location. Meal times are fixed and are buffet style - the food is nice and is plentiful, although not hugely inspiring. Drinks were nice, fairly priced, and there's a 2 hour happy hour to take advantage of, which was fun. It was quiet / low season when we were there, and most people went to bed right after dinner (wwaa wwwaaaaa...), so this is much more suited to a very relaxing, peaceful stay, good for families too as it's totally safe. Not really the place to go if you want to party. Overall, we really enjoyed it and would go back. 2, 3 or possibly 4 nights is probably a good amount of time there.

Nice place
Nice rustic hotel on beautiful island. Could use an update to match the high price. Need to ditch the TV screen outside at dinner. Fantastic fresh food for lunch. Splurge for the room over the water.

Perfect oasis; photos don't do it justice
Punta Faro is an amazing getaway about 2 hours by boat from Cartagena. If you're looking for sun, sand and relaxation - this is the place to go. The beaches in Cartagena itself aren't very pretty so you need to go to one of the islands. Service is exceptional. Everyone wants you to have a great and relaxing time. Nothing starts on time though which is slightly annoying (e.g. activities, meals). Food is good not fantastic but they mix it up and there's always plenty to eat. I'd highly recommend it!
