I want to like this place, but...
The service is so good at this quirky hotel, it’s hard to give it anything but a solid rating. I wasn’t expecting the Four Seasons, but I’ve seen cleaner toilets in a prison and the bed was rock hard, even by Chinese mattress standards. The place is nicely located to explore Old Street and other parts of the city, but it needs to work on it hygiene and amenities.

Such a unique property and the place to stay in Tunxi! We spent the night here after the yellow mountains before going baxk to Shanghai. It’s gorgeous, clean, excellent and kind staff and breakfast is delicious and a very charming place! Kailaintheworld.com

Charming old house in excellent location
Lovely, very old traditional Chinese building with rooms and common areas refurbished with modern amenities. Comfortable stay, helpful staff. Tunxi Old Town is only a few minutes' walk away and the hotel is within a busy neighbourhood of shops, restaurants, music clubs, street food, etc.

Go stay in Gozu Su
We loved this hotel and had a fabulous stay, but it's a small guesthouse in a period building, so may not suit everyone. On the plus side, the building has real character, the staff are lovely, the courtyard cafe is a great place to relax and take a drink and the local area is very good for food and drink options, while not being far from the ancient street. The breakfast was delicious. On the downside, the property is small (6 rooms), made of wood and rooms open onto the courtyard. Sounds in the courtyard are audible in the rooms, and vice versa if you're noisy. The bathrooms are modern, but a bit industrial in appearance with rendered walls. Smoking was allowed in the courtyard, despite signs saying it was prohibited. Overall, we heartily recommend this hotel.

Wonderful stay
We had a wonderful visit to Tunxi and our stay at the Guzo Su was a big part of that. The staff were so helpful (they made great suggestions for us on where to visit, helped us plan our travels on from Tunxi and made us feel very welcome) and the hotel itself is just beautiful. A delicious and filling breakfast too! We wished we could have stayed longer.

Excellent recommendation!
Bathroom had modern facilities with rain shower. Wooden floorboards so you sometimes hear other guests stomping past your room.
