The receptionist greeted us well & we were given the key to our room, which was in the extension. The room was a good size, comfortable, very large double bed, nice decor, I liked the old photos of the Green man & Old HARLOW, as I lived there as a child. Good bed linen & towels. The bar area is disappointing. Several TVs, very loud, in several areas, so it’s difficult to have a nice quiet chat. Some of the staff in the bar area & the dinning room, were distracted & not at all welcoming. The service at breakfast was very unprofessional. There was no one to greet us, we didn’t have a good table, although we could easily have been offered a better table. The waitress started cleaning around the table, once we sat down, even though it was all set up. We ordered a full English breakfast. It arrived so rapidly, we hadn’t even finished our cereal, I had to lift my bowl up, as the plate was plonked down. The breakfast was obviously already cooked & waiting for the next order, the baked beans looked dry, their was only 1 rasher of bacon & no tomatoes. No apology or explanation was given. We ate a very unappetising breakfast, in a very unwelcoming dinning room, with the radio on, nothing suitable as quiet breakfast listening. Later we went to the bar for a drink, we sat in the alcove, the TVs were still blaring, the area (we think it may have been the carpet) smelt badly & one of the seats were split right across the middle. ......All such a shame as it could be such a lovely pub.
