Friendly welcome and also farewell from Mark - Lovely place and well placed to do all we wanted to do at an affordable price. Maybe just needs a new firmer mattress on the bed.
Good communication from the host. Nothing to not like about the guest house. Everything provided for and lovely and quiet with close access to all amenities. Reason for the 4 star is that it is no frills. If you’re looking for a basic guest house at a reasonable price I would recommend it.
Mark was very friendly and accommodating to our questions or requests. The room was very clean and was everything that we needed for a base following our biking activities and a wedding evening do. Only downside was that you couldn’t eat breakfast on-site but we found plenty of places that did breakfast in Bowness within walking distance down the road.
Excellent location and the room was spotless, a great base to visit the lakes and the short walk down to the lake Windermere.
Mark and Grace are the perfect hosts would highly recommend.
Check-in was easy and very pleasant. My room was lovely and snelled fresh and clean. There was a hospitality tray with tea, coffee biscuits. Mark was very helpful in outlining the area, and directing me to the lake. As a solo traveller I felt safe and comfortable at Elim House.
Room was very clean when we arrived. Covid measures in place. Only 10 mins walk to the lakes. Restaurants and shops walking distance too. Friendly host. Over all highly recommended.
Mark the owner very friendly and welcoming. Gave us money off vouchers for the lakes boat excursions. Guest house in a great location and everything you need for a comfortable stay and an amazing breakfast to boot - We will be back :-)
Huge comfortable bed. Good breakfast. Friendly, approachable host but not ‘in your face’ - just right. The decor is a little dated but it didn’t spoil our stay.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
More of a hotel than a B&B
Very busy with several guests, several stairs to our room. Impersonal host who hardly communicated and seemed businesslike. Was expecting a smaller homely B&B. The girl who served breakfast was polite but breakfast was minimal.
Positive is location. Well positioned and close to shops and eateries
Parking is difficult but the owner rang me to guide me to a reserved space. Well looked after guest house in great position to visit the lakes. Very friendly and attentive owner , room and facilities excellent great value.
We enjoyed our stay at Bowness. Last stayed 46 years ago and it rained every day . At least we only had a few showers nothing to spoil our 4 day visit.
We stayed at Elim House because we attended a wedding in Bowness-on-Windermere.
The owner went out of his way to help us park our car around the back, and we generally very welcoming and provided us with local information.
The location is perfect for visiting Bowness and the centre is just a short walk away.
We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

nice BB with a nice garden
I stayed for 2 nights in a room on the top floor (2nd floor). It was cozy but unfortunately the window directly opposite to the bed did not close so I got a cold. Other than that, I have no complain.
