The staff was helpful and friendly. The only less positive comment that we have is we were woken up by construction work nearby each morning, which was not particularly pleasant. Hopefully this is a short term thing though.

Unfortunately we felt quite let down by Crown Plaza Christchurch. Our disappointments related to their failure to alert us to major road closures that precluded our access to the hotel, their initial refusal to provide us a car park despite their being one available(which we eventually secured) and a general initial unfriendliness by front desk staff. We also had some maintenance problems.

Fantastic and very helpful staff and easy check in. Very quiet and spacious modern rooms with everything you need. The view outside our window of a car park and a pool of dirty water wasn’t the best but it didnt ruin our stay, just not the view we were hoping for. Easy walk to the riverside for a great meal. We will definitely be back!

The hotel property is fabulous - the rooms were impeccable. What was absolutely abysmal was the Christmas buffet (for which they intensely solicited our attendance) and room service. For the Xmas day buffet: We were shown to a table with no utensils on the table. The buffet itself: outrageously priced, we were served dry lamb (even after I asked for a cut off the bone) and dry salty ham. I had to ask for utensils to cut the cheese selections. The accompaniments were blah (in contrast my family in Toronto sent me their Christmas morning selections of rare filet, eggs Benedict, etc, at a fraction of the cost). We had to walk to the bar for a drink (including soda); we cleared our own dishes because NOT ONCE did we see a server. After soliciting our business we were not seated in the main area; we were off in a conference room where we could not hear the organist. Desserts: mediocore. Room service: we ordered the first night. Sandwich arrived with burned toast. The second time: Sandwich arrived with no cheese and three layers of bread with dry fatty ham. Such incredible inconsistency. The other order was acceptable. First buffet breakfast - Christmas Day - service ended early but although the front desk gave us a letter they did not highlight this fact. We arrived 15 minutes before the end of the buffet (which ended 30 minutes early). Could not get cream/order at breakfast bar. Fresh fruit/cheese not replenished. Bad attitudes at coffee bar. Lousy.

Hotel was conveniently located close to everything. Facilities were great. Unfortunately we got a room on the 4th floor looking right at pipes and ducts - no view at all for our 3 night stay.

The hotel is in a great part of downtown with easy access to sights and restaurants. We had a lovely and well layed out room in with a great view of the city. The elevators were a little slow in the mornings but otherwise no issues. Great place to stay!
