One night stay before flight departure back to USA the next day. We were disappointed when arriving at the Royal Park around 12:45pm and being told that we wouldn’t be allowed to even register to checkin unless we paid around 9000 yen for an early checkin. I understand not being given a room, but the whole attitude of the front desk staff was abrupt and dismissive, not at all customer friendly or helpful as we had experienced at all other establishments throughout our trip to Japan thus far. Frankly, it was a very bad first impression of the hotel. Fortunately, the rest of the hotel staff we encountered during our one night stay were very pleasant, offsetting that initial negative experience. Perhaps, the front desk staff should be provided more customer service training.
