Checked in. No Vacancy sign but no patrons? TV was terrible--few channels and most were unviewable.. Advised clerk who stated it hoped to be fixed the next week. No microwave or fridge. Room was not made up for second day. Restaurant was closed. No discount for all this! We were the only patrons for two days.

The accommodations were adequate, but the room rate was way over priced. No, microwave or mini refrigerator and no staff on site at night for emergencies. There was an elderly couple that was accidentally locked out of their room and could not get a hold of anyone.

Thank ;you for your review. We apologize if you things were not what you had expected. We would like to point out that our guest are informed previous to their reservation that we do not have microwaves, nor refrigerators in the rooms. Also, we always have someone available for guests that lock themselves out after hours. In fact, after further review we found that someone did in fact help the guest that locked themselves out after hours, within 15 minutes of the reported issue. Thanks again for your review however inaccurate it may be.

The property needs to be updated to accommodate senior citizens. The bathroom facilities are not up to 20th, let alone 21st century standars.

Older but not bad overall
The motel was serviceable. We didn't spend a lot of time there as we got in late and left early for the train. We drove in about 8:30pm so the front desk was closed for the night and our key was left in an envelope in a drop box. Overall, the housekeepers do an excellent job at keeping things clean and tidy but there were a few issues that were beyond them. There were some mold spots on the ceiling above the shower and our bathroom light wasn't working either so we had to use our phone flashlights to see. The motel feels like an old place and is a bit outdated, but I think, overall, it is in pretty decent condition and a quiet and peaceful spot. It has a convenient location where everything is just a couple minutes' drive. I wouldn't mind staying there again.

Although the room was large and the property is convenient to town, there was no refrigerator, no hair dryer, and most aggravating, the bottom "fitted" sheet on the bed would not stay on the mattress.

Wonderful greeting and service. We were disappointed that room did not have a microwave and refrigerator, but the fault is ours for not checking when reserving. A great area for dog walking.

We had to leave early before sunrise so a porch light we could turn on would have been useful. We very much liked having no lights on after 10 pm though! Esp with the potential bear situation. But great stay.

Branding Iron in Chama
Decent throwback motel, exterior long in the tooth, rooms are a an older update but functional and clean. Poor tv reception, good Wi-Fi. Good beds. Basic lodging in a beautiful setting. Restaurant is closed.

The overall condition of these lodgings were run down. The bathroom fan was broken and the toilet was running and needed repair. The window unit was very noisy and did not seem to bring in fresh air. There were no basic amenities like an ice maker and all the vending machines were empty and unplugged. Sad and depressing.

This whole town/village is rustic and somewhat rundown looking, that is the charm of charma. There was a water boil alert in the area, which is no longer in effect. Guest water bottles and ice were given out during this time.All of our AC/Heater units work great and a majority are new. Sometimes user error can occur which can cause one to think it does not work. We offer clean rooms at a low rate, and the Branding Iron Motel has great availability for this area.

It’s fine for visiting Cumbres and Toltec Railroad. Clean & basic priced right Motel. The surrounding area is beautiful and good for fly fishing / hunting. Outlaw, Local and Boxcar are great places to eat.

The rooms is spacious and the bed comfortable. Very close to the rail yard too. Not much to choose from in terms of restaurants in Chama, so would recommend to plan ahead for meals. We did eat at a new place, Outlaws, and it was delicious— highly recommend. (Wanted to eat at Fosters and it was closed while we were there). Great place to stay if in Chama

A basic motel. No food or vending service but there is ice. Chama itself has the most basic places to eat with little choice. Stayed in Chama to ride the train and the motel served the purpose.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, but there were no hairdryers, irons or ironing boards in the rooms. The ice machine was in a locked room which was fine except when they couldn't find the key! :)

I thought the property was clean and safe. The surrounding area is very nice. It's minor, but the tv channel selection is minimal, and the picture was grainy.

a nice overnight stay
a perfectly fine stay in a 2-star hotel. room was big with plenty of space to spread out. the rags in the lobby to wipe off my motorcycle were appreciated. and my room door on the first floor leading right to my parking spot was nice - great for loading and unloading the bike. definitely would stay here again when traveling thru Chama.

Nice and clean place to stay the night. Very nice folks who work in the office. The only thing I did not like both we are seniors that the beds were so hard could not sleep well.
