War Arun view
Nice location. Very nice room. The hotel is very unique, and a nice place for our first days in thailand. The restaurant and bar are very good with a fabulous view of Wat Arun.

Arun Residence used to be a quiet, quaint boutique hotel on the river. That was 10 or so years ago. The area is now very busy and the building has been substantially redeveloped. Now, the hotel is almost a sideline to the restaurant and bar extending over 4 levels which attract many outside patrons. The accommodation is still good with each unit providing comfortable accommodation spread over several levels - although the stairs, banisters and balustrades in the units would raise safety concerns in many countries. The restaurant food is good and the staff were generally attentive. The view across the river to Wat Arun is a highlight.

Great location!
We had a beautiful view of Wat Arun from directly across the river. The breakfast was made to order with a good variety of Western and Asian options. The room was large and comfortable. The roof top bar was a great place to unwind and enjoy the view. Additionally, the lodging is within easy walking distance to some of the sites, a metro station and ferry dock.

Great New Years Eve Spot
The hotel staff were lovely. They let us our room 2 hours early on New Years Eve. They also had a rooftop party that we were included in for no extra charge. The view of War Arun was magical. We did have a loft bedroom with the bathroom downstairs, there was mot much of a railing and if you were unsteady in the night it felt a bit precarious. All was great !

We make a mistake book the room with Arun residence from 19-21 September to 19-21 October. On 19 September I try to contact Expedia many times to cancel but today (10/22/19) I receive email back from Arun Residence and Expedia that they can’t give me back my money or credit me anything. We Nee been to this hotel yet but this bad experience shows me how greedy they are and I will not do any business with this hotel in the future again. Also Expedia can’t help me with anything but get me full charge of booking! Agoda will get the business from me from now on.

Excellent room but reception has a cat on the counter. Great view but there is a bar on the top floor so it made noisy moving chairs and tables on the second night. Terrible for that second night. I had to throw two chairs on the balcony to make them stop moving things around on my head.

Great riverside location and views!
We really enjoyed our stay at Arun Residence. The staff were very friendly and the room was spacious and comfortable. We had a wonderful view across to Wat Arun. The bar has great views and is a good spot for a drink before heading out to eat nearby or get a tuk tuk to Chinatown or other neighbourhoods.

Thin walls, poor wifi, great venue
This is a boutique hotel, so it comes with those kinds of quirks. You're not going to get perfect concierge service, or staff that are able to do everything. But you're going to get a nice quiet location with a great view. If you want to do business you may want to look elsewhere. The WiFi needs a complete re-build and was unusable to me every evening I was in the hotel. (The hotel did apologize and offer a discount on my stay) The walls and wooden floors carry noise from the other rooms, the rooftop bar and the neighbors. So be prepared if you are a light sleeper. I was woken at dawn by someone beating on the doorbell next door and the family stomping around their apartment. I'm also unclear if the building and rooms have ever dried out. After 2 separate stays I've returned home to find all my clothes feel slightly damp. But perhaps you can't do much with a house over the river in Bangkok. Like others have noted, the A/C is inscrutable, there seems to be no way to change the fan speed, it's just "blow hard" if the A/C is on. All in all it leaves me conflicted about the location. I really want to keep staying here, but not if I have to get work done while I'm at the hotel.

Dissapointed.
Not the “delux” room I had expected and far from what we had expected from the web page. No river view, really cramped room (could not stand to full height in the bedroom due to low ceiling) really worn and tired looking furnishings and place looked like it needed a good clean. Staff were friendly. Good location and amazing views from the bars and restaurants of the hotel. I would not recommend this hotel.

Great hotel location with personal touch
My wife and I had a room with a lot of personality and a wonderful view of Wat Arun. The hotel staff couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating. Our late night arrival was a piece of cake. The location is perfect for walking to the sights in the old city and for taking the ferry across or up and down the river. We enjoyed eating breakfast and dinner at the attached restaurant looking out over the river. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom and shower fine, and the sitting room more than adequate. This hotel is good for someone who doesn't want to stay in a 5-star hotel but would rather stay somewhere "homier."For local color, this is the place.

Best location on the Chao Pray River
This is a comfortable boutique hotel but it's not luxurious. That didn't worry us though. Our suite featured a living space adjacent to the bed and a terrific balcony overlooking the river which we had trouble leaving. So much to see. Wat Arun is directly opposite. The restaurant and bars serve VERY good Thai and western cuisine.

Nice hotel and VERY close to the sites but....
First the good... Really really close to Wat Pho and the Grand Palace. The hotel has a bar on top with an amazing view of Wat Arun and the river. And you can walk to both the silver market and the flower market. So the location is perfect. Now the bad... There was mold in the shower the walls in the room were dirty. The front desk people on average were helpful but it would depend on who you talked to. One front desk person would help you with suggestions on excursions and trips and how to get somewhere. And the next front desk person would not help at all and tell you to use the computer to figure it out. They shut and lock the front door after 10 PM and no one told me that and I didnt have a key to get in. There is no one available to help out at the front desk before 8 AM - which I wasn't told about either. I would suggest this hotel if you dont mind staying in a room that is not the cleanest (NOTE - the bed and sheets were clean) and dont need much help from front desk but like to be near to the sites.

Rustic, quaint boutique style hotel
Hotel in a great spot...walking distance to 2 main attractions and very easy to get Tuk Turks. Hotel staff friendly and very helpful. Room is a loft style...bed up a winding stair. Mattress on floor and a sitting area also in the loft. Hotel is very clean, rustic and quaint. Hotel also has a wonderful rooftop bar and a terrific restaurant...reservations needed.

Good location and service
The hotel is placed near several temples which is convenient when taking taxi or tuk tuk..just tell them Wat Poh. The hotel has very friendly staff how can help orient you. The food is excellent and looks out on the river. We were upgraded to a suite which was simply beautiful. Room well decorated, spacious and comfortable. It is in the quiet part of town, but if you like the bar scene a taxi or tuk tuk can easily get you there.... It is a short walk to the river dock or train station if you want (recommend) visiting the old capital Ayutthaya for a day trip. Touristy shopping is also available nearby

This was a really nice place to stay! Pros: very close to Wat Pho and the Grand Palace, unique room decor and layout so it doesn't feel like a generic hotel room, nice sunset glimpse from our room, and a better view from the bar/restaurant, friendly and helpful staff. Cons: not many good restaurants nearby, especially at night time, some parts of the room (eg the shower) could do with an update, and the bar/restaurant is very expensive. Also since it's such a small hotel, most taxi drivers didn't know it, and we sometimes found it difficult to communicate the address to them. A good solution (and usually cheaper, since it's so hard to find a taxi driver who will use the metre) was to use Uber.

Looking for something different?
We enjoyed our stay at this traditional Thai hotel with beautiful views of Wat Arun and close to main tourist sights of Bangkok. 10 mins walk to Royal Palace, 5 mins to river ferries, 2 mins to Wat Pho. Lovely teak floors and a homely feel was a nice change from generic modern hotels, although I did manage to bump my head on the low beam across the upstairs sitting area. Bed was not so comfortable after several nights. Room was quite small, and on two levels. Breakfast was fine, and restaurant meals were lovely. We received a discount as we were guests. Did notice the tablecloths needed to be changed more frequently than they were. Staff very helpful

Lovely hotel in a great location.
Lovely hotel in a great location. I received an upgrade to the Jasmine suite which was beautiful, the hotel is in a great location for The Grand Palace and Wat Pho they are both within walking distance. There doesnt seem to be much around the area in the evening in terms of Restaurants etc. so I had to head more central (about 100-150 Bhat in a taxi). Breakfast was lovely, they will freshly prepare eggs, bacon etc for you.

Location location location
We were a little concerned by the alley it is located in and surroundings when we arrived, but the room, the wonderfully helpful staff and the location makes this a gem of a hotel and we would stay there again and recommend it to anyone who wants to be within walking distance of the major attractions. The room was comfortable, clean and well equipped with a view of Wat Arun from our balcony and the deck and bar. It is a 5 minute walk to grand palace, or the river taxi to Wat Arun and across the street from Wat Pho. The food was very good in the restaurant but a little pricey. The general surroundings are iffy but once inside the room was wonderful and we were prepared to overlook the environment of the lane for the convenience. Great for easy going adventurers.

A great river view across to Wat Arun
The staff were lovely, very helpful and polite without being formal. Any language mix ups were very quickly remedied. Only downs were the hot water in the shower -very difficult to have a consistently warm shower and the lighting in the room was rather "dim". Fantastic location for exploring the Ratanakosin area and whilst we were there the area was not all that busy, except for the Japanese tour groups at the Grand Palace.

Hands down the best view in Bangkok.
Great views of Wat Arun from our room the bar and restaruant. Walking distance to Wat Pho and the Emerald Buddah Temple. Very close to the Tiem Pier #5. The staff were extremely helpful and coutreous. The room could stand a little attention (in need of new curtains and a little water damage repair) but overall a great room. A great way to experience Bangkok for the first time.

Great location but overpriced
Adv: We booked the Jasmine suite and the view of the Wat Arun temple across the river was beautiful even though it was undergoing renovation as of May 2016. The location was excellent for visiting the Wat Pho temple & The Grand Palace, both are less than 5 minutes walking distance. The pier and flower market are 10 minutes walking distance and is worth visiting late at night when deliveries and floral compositions are being made. We felt safe walking around at night and nothing happened. Disadv.- a bit overpriced for Bangkok, damp smells in the corridor and one evening in the room which was a turn off and considering the price of the room. The hotel restaurant was a disappointment, you are better off just having your welcome drink to enjoy the view and dining elsewhere. I was served a tum yum soup with a rotten shrimp and sent it back to the kitchen, no apologies offered either.
