We decided to stay in Asahikawa after finding that the hotels in Daisetzusan National Park were really expensive, even in the low season. We were really glad we chose Art Hotels. An easy drive to and from Biei (45 mins) and Asahidake (75 mins) and well located for restaurants. We used the coin laundry in the Toyo Hotel opposite (and had a surprisingly good dinner there while we waited) as the Art Hotel only has a priced-by-item laundry service. The room (executive double) was very spacious with a large bed and two armchairs.
The room was small, but enough for a short stay, and looked old but was all well cleaned.
The staff at the reception was very helpful and friendly.
5 or less minutes walk from the bus and train station.
