"This hotel makes a Travelodge look like The Dorchester.
While the ladies at reception and the cleaner were absolutely lovely and did their best to help, this is unfortunately the worst hotel I have stayed in within the UK.
The first room I was allocated had an overwhelming sewage smell. The odour was so strong that I walked straight back out and returned to reception. To their credit, the receptionist apologised and promptly moved me to what she described as one of the newly refurbished...

"The bed was very comfortable, and breakfast was fresh.
Things are looking a bit tired, but staff were very friendly and it was ceratanly very good value. "

"Where do I start, staff helpful, rooms filthy (carpet stained, cobwebs everywhere, curtain hanging off rails) like an American motel that needs knocking down and rebuilding. Very strange rooms where there are two doors to get into the room totally pointless. This could be made really nice but needs a lot of money spent on it"

"We like the Sparrow because of its location - near junction of A46 and M6 and it’s quite comfortable as well. We didn’t try the food on this occasion."

"Room which I stayed was clean enough but difficult to move around due to infrastructure and size (single adult).
Staff were courteous and very helpful.
No issues with parking. Many shops and food places nearby.
Overall the stay was good. "

"Very tired and In need of refurbishment ,
blocked sink,
no door handle on the bathroom door,
no remote for the TV,
cigarette stub left on the carpet,
carpet had stains,
only 2 pillows provided and were flat,
window closed and still allowed breeze to come in.
A very unpleasant stay, we left in the evening to stay at another hotel"
