"Great location!"
The Tuscan is a great hotel if you want to be close to Fisherman's Wharf. We were walking distance to cable cars, eating places, shopping, and public transportation. Our room had a comfortable queen bed and was perfect for two people. The bathroom was also ample. We were on the fourth floor and it was very quiet at night. The staff was very cordial and most helpful. We would gladly stay at the Tuscan again and highly recommend this hotel.

"Great Service!"
Tried to get an early check-in and they were very accommodating. Hotel staff are all very friendly. Only downside was that there was a long line at check in and check out - they need to have more people at the front desk during peak hours.

"Great hotel, close to shopping and restaurants"
We stayed at this hotel for a total of five days. The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. Since this hotel is smaller than some of the larger hotels, you get one on one service. The rooms were clean and very comfortable and we would definitely choose this hotel again.

"Great hotel, fantastic location"
Looked and booked online. Never know what you are going to get but we were very pleased. After a long flight (13 hours) we arrived before check in time but the hotel was very accommodating. Secured our bags, had a lovely cold refreshing drink available, and were able to direct us to a nice relaxing eatery. The position in Union Square was ideal, close to lots of great restaurants. The staff were very helpful, and the pool was an added bonus. Would highly recommend.

"First two days in San Fran"
I stayed in this hotel the first two days of my travelling through America, and I was super happy with it. The bed was comfy, the fan kept the room nice and cool and the free muffins in the morning were delicious. I was worried about sharing a toilet and shower, but it turn out to be fine. They were both kept very clean!!

"Wonderful hotel close in SOMA, close to BART"
We had a fabulous stay at the Hotel Zetta San Francisco. Everything about the hotel was excellent from the friendly and helpful staff, to the modern and comfortable room. We loved everything. The hotel has a great lobby/bar/entertainment area that was super fun and lots of people hung out every night. Everything in the rooms was thought of from the standard things (nice toiletries, comfortable bedding, iPhone/iPad dock that connects to the TV, a Jambox that you could take out into the city with you to enjoy your music and so much more. All of the staff was helpful to tell us the best way to do things and great things that locals enjoy. Also, the hotel was super easy to get to from the airport. Just take the BART (San Francisco metro system) from the airport and the hotel is less than a block away. Can't rave enough about the Hotel Zetta San Francisco! You will love it!

"great experience"
The hotel was really nice and the staff was awesome. At night I needed an extra blanket and when I called, I heard a knock on the door about 5 seconds later with my blanket. There was a lot of older crowd in the lobby/bar area. The starlight lounge is nice, the only issue is there is no ventilation and it gets super hot. All the windows were foggy and it was hard to see the view. The bed was extremely comfortable the sheets were extra soft, all I wanted to do is stay and sleep. :)

"Very nice hotel very well situated in SF"
Rex is a most charming hotel. The appearance does remind one of old Europe, while at the same time all conveniences are up to date. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful, at times they went out of their way to accommodate our requests. The location was perfect, we walked to Chinatown, North Beach and kept going. When we needed public transportation it was the easiest thing to do. I would stay back at the Rex without any second thought when visiting SF.

    Pocket Guide: San Francisco

Home to the iconic Golden Gate Bridge and the original setting for what would become known as the Summer of Love, San Francisco's many associations with popular culture are hard to ignore. This former Gold Rush town, now California's fourth largest city, is laden with famous locations and movie imagery. Whether the city brings to mind Steve McQueen racing around the famous cityscape in 'Bullitt', or Clint Eastwood planning his escape from the infamous Alcatraz, San Francisco is etched indelibly on every moviegoer's mind.

    The city's story

However, delve into San Francisco's history and you'll find that, unlike the movies, the city has a real story to tell. San Francisco's population exploded with the Gold Rush of the 1840s, making it the largest city on the West Coast during that era. Banks, merchants (including the now famous Ghriadelli chocolatier), and the arrival of the first transcontinental railroad, brought enough wealth to build churches, theaters, and the first cable cars. San Francisco flourished, becoming a beacon of culture and lavishness in the otherwise underdeveloped American West. Prosperity during this period led to the construction of the city's countless Victorian-style homes and buildings, which have become a contemporary attraction among tourists and locals alike.

San Francisco has often been referred to as a hub of liberal thinking and mixing of cultures; it's well known as the site of the Summer of Love and an early leader in the United States' gay rights movement. Almost 40 per cent of the city's population was born overseas, creating a diverse mixture of people and neighborhoods, including one of the largest Chinatowns in America, Little Italy, and the Latin America-flavored Mission District. The city saw an influx of writers and artists in the 1950s, hippies in the 1960s, and another financial boom in the 1990s with the advent of the Internet - all of which have made San Francisco a wealthy city with a high standard of living and a robust entertainment and arts scene.

    Something for everyone

San Francisco is home to many iconic sites, including the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, and the Coit Tower. Try a cruise for a great tour of the harbor or get a city pass to visit all the famous sights.

Numerous, undulating hills crisscrossed by cable cars are also characteristic of the city. A tight collection of distinct neighborhoods, San Francisco is easy to explore on foot (with a little help from the cable cars or a double-decker bus for the steeper hills). Find department-store shopping and entertainment in Union Square and the Financial District; souvenirs and tourists at Fisherman's Wharf; luxurious hotels and views on Nob/Russian Hill; and remnants of hippy bohemia in the Haight.

As the United States' second most densely populated (and highly visited) city, San Francisco offers new sights and treasures around every corner and something for almost every type of traveller.
