"Beautiful Parisian Hotel"
This hotel was very beautiful and portrayed real Parisian elegance. I was lucky enough to be upgraded upon my arrival to a suite with a sitting room and electric fireplace. All of the toiletries were Bvlgari, which was an added treat. The hotel is right next to the Opera, and within walking distance to the Louvre and shopping. I'll be staying there again next time.

"Very comfortable hotel, next to Louvre"
I had a wonderful stay at Duminy Vendome Hotel. The staff were really friendly and did all the best to provide with everything I need. I asked how to get to the hotel and replied me very soon with accurate indications. I got very surprised when they even spoke me in my mother language. They also helped me to recommend sightseeing attractions by giving me brochures and making phone calls to book the tours. Regarding the location, it's next to Louvre and Opera and a metro station is very close too, so it allows to get to other areas of the city very easily, including Disneyland. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Free wi-fi connection in also included. The breakfast was also excellent, it included a buffet of American and continental service with a variety of food and drinks. I am so happy to have chosen Duminy Vendome hotel and if I have the chance to go there, I'll decide to stay there again without any doubt. Great service!!

"24 hours in Paris"
I had stayed there previously, possibly before it became a Mercure, whenever that was, and would recommend it without question. Its biggest selling point is its location, being directly opposite the Gare du Nord, and even in pouring rain it is right outside a pedestrian tunnel under the forecourt leading into the station. There is no need to call a taxi as the rank is right outside the door, and for anyone using Eurostar often it is is a godsend. I really cannot think of anything bad to say about it, though were it not for Expedia it would not have been within my business budget.

"Superb Hotel and exceptional staff"
This hotel is one of the nicest I've stayed in. All of the staff without exception were polite, courtesy and extremely helpful. The rooms and all of the facilities are spotlessly clean and the location is perfect. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this little gem to anyone.

"Best staff member named Youssef Jayech!!!!!"
To make a very long story short: Youssef went way, way out of his way, above and beyond, helping me secure additional hotel accommodations in Rome and helped me untangle train accommodation problems- he literally spent hours over 2 days helping me- without him I may not have survived!!! Thanks youssef!!! You're the best!!!!

"Wonderful, reasonable price hotel close to Gare du"
A small and pleasant hotel located 7-10 minutes walk from Gare du Nord. This hotel is excellent for the budget conscious family or individual. Though small, our room on the second floor was quite fine for two adults and a child. It's also in very good condition as everything seemed fairly new. If amenities such as an iron are needed, the front desk readily supplies it on request. The breakfast provided, at cost, is very good, but there are many cafes nearby where breakfast will cost less. Although the hotel is close to the train station, there was no street noise or other disturbances during the night. The only small negative for some could be the limited space for hanging clothes, but we managed quite fine. Also the elevator is very, very small but waiting or walking the stairs are easy options that really weren't a bother. Overall, a very pleasant little hotel that is an excellent choice for those on a budget or for anyone seeking a nice, small hotel close to the train station.

    Pocket Guide: Paris

It's easy to fall for Paris. Even if you've never been, you'll probably have felt the attraction already; its beauty is no secret. Endlessly written about, painted, and photographed, Paris conjures up emotions for which adequate words and images simply don't exist. Whatever you have read, seen, or heard about the city, the most important thing you need to do is visit.

    A bit of va-va-velib

Only Paris can make a gray, bulky bicycle seem glamorous and sophisticated. Velib, the city's free hire bikes, are Paris's answer to traffic congestion, the good heath of its inhabitants, and transport strikes. For the visitor, they offer an excellent way to get to know the city's 20 arrondissements, or districts, all of which have their own distinctive markings.

The heart of the capital, on the Ile de la Cité, is where Paris began around 250 BC. Now home to the law courts, a flower market, and the gothic masterpiece Notre Dame, it's a deservedly popular spot. Like most of Paris's landmarks, Notre Dame is always surrounded by people gazing up in awe and wonder. Climb the south tower and you'll be similarly humbled as you look down on the city landscape of grand boulevards, parks, and monuments.

Following your eye along the Seine, you can see the world's most famous museum, the Louvre, and further down, the instantly recognizable Eiffel Tower. Include these on your itinerary and you'll have made a small (but important) chip into the huge block of Paris's famous landmarks, monuments, and museums. It's quite possible that the list could seem overwhelming, but sitting at a pavement café with a strong coffee and a guidebook is a good start, and will certainly put you in the Parisian mood.

A bit of ooh la la

Back in 1889, the Moulin Rouge introduced a seductive, skirts-and-eyebrow-raising dance called the cancan. Today it hosts a sell-out show, though risqué titillation has been replaced by slick dance routines and acrobatics. The Opera National de Paris offers a program of classical ballet and opera, performed at the modern Opera Bastille and the grandiose Palais Garnier. In contrast to these big-scale productions, you'll find live music from rock to chanson throughout the week at venues ranging from scruffy basements to plush auditoriums. Alternatively, try a dinner cruise along the Seine for a traffic-free view of the city's carefully lit architecture.

There are a dizzying number of festivals in Paris, each reinvigorating the city in a unique way. Visit on June 21st for a musical adventure as the city plays host to a free music festival, Fête de la Musique. As the world's capital of cinema, Paris naturally has its own film festival and the highest number of art-house cinemas per inhabitant. Open-air screenings, cinematographic tours, and an eclectic mix of films make up a busy program which is enough to push any blockbuster boundaries.

It's true that people here often have a baguette under their arm. There is a boulangerie (bakery) on almost every street and even if you're not hungry the pastries in the window will probably have a persuasive impact. French cuisine is notoriously sophisticated, but you don't need to find Michelin stars to enjoy it. A neighborhood brasserie can offer a fine meal, a place to watch people come and go, and inspiration for your return visit to the city of light.
