"very friendly staff, room was small but very comfy"
great place to stay, friendly and very helpful staff. Awesome breakfast, a little costly but worth the money close to the Paris Metro, the area of Paris was perhaps not the best A little scary to walk alone at night

"Convenient location"
We had an excellent stay at this hotel. The staff speaks good English, it is located in a convenient location to Gare du Nord in addition to other attractions, and it is very clean. The rooms aren't large, but we weren't there to stay in the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel.

"Close to transportation-"
When I arrived on a hot day in Paris I was told that the air conditioning in the hotel was broken in many rooms and they put me in a ground floor interior room overlooking a construction site. I indicated it was impossible to stay there and requested a change within the hotel or a room in Best Western nearby. At that point they "found" a nice room for me overlooking the street which did have AC. Staff seemed to be nice and helpful, but impersonal. If I had not insisted on the room change, I would have been stuck. The rooms are on the larger size for Paris and the location of this hotel at the Chatelet-Les Halles Metro Stop can't be beat.

"Great location & staff, very clean, but small room"
If you a are looking for a good, central, clean and safe hotel to stay while in Paris, look no further. This in the best area and is a charming little hotel in St. Germain des Pres. It is close to all sorts of nice bars and brasseries, but at the same time is very calm and quiet. The staff is amazing and everything is spotless. My single room was, however, very small, and the bed was not the most comfortable. But other than that it is a good place. I travel a lot for work and am usually quite picky (particularly about cleaniness), and I was very happy with this hotel.

Delightful welcome from the staff who gave really helpful advice, close to all the sights- walked everywhere except Montmartre! A wonderful introduction to Paris (my favourite city!) for my two daughters.

The position of this hotel was perfect for access to all major landmarks and the area around it was great for food in the evenings after a hard day's sight seeing. Cafe de Relais two doors down did fabulous breakfasts to set you up for the day with brilliant staff. Cheaper than hotel breakfast.

"It's quite central and close to Gare Du Nord"
I have been assigned to a room on the entrance floor at my check-in at about 3:00 which is an hour after it starts. I walked into the room, the curtains were closed, the TV was on and the bed wasn't made. Thought I walked into a room that was already occupied and left right away. I went back to the reception and asked if there had been a mistake and the staff at the reception thought he should check the room. Once he checked, he told me that he is sorry that the room hasn't been cleaned and that I have to wait until they do. I declined this offer explaining it's after 2:00pm and that I have only two nights to stay in Paris and that also I need to change my clothes before I head out. And after this, he talked with some supervisor and assigned me to another room on the third floor. Room was well-worth the money with Nespresso machines. Everything is nicely thought and looked neat. I have really enjoyed the rooms, but the way their first impression was a NAAAY! My check-out was quite pleasing, and everyone but the one staff who greeted me the first day was also nice. Internet was really fast, and they helped me and arranged a cab for my trip to CDG!

I don't normally write reviews but I promised myself I would this time. The staff were really welcoming and when my Expedia booking didn't go through ok they phoned me to work it out. The rooms were lovely, comfortable and quiet and I felt well looked after.

    Pocket Guide: Paris

It's easy to fall for Paris. Even if you've never been, you'll probably have felt the attraction already; its beauty is no secret. Endlessly written about, painted, and photographed, Paris conjures up emotions for which adequate words and images simply don't exist. Whatever you have read, seen, or heard about the city, the most important thing you need to do is visit.

    A bit of va-va-velib

Only Paris can make a gray, bulky bicycle seem glamorous and sophisticated. Velib, the city's free hire bikes, are Paris's answer to traffic congestion, the good heath of its inhabitants, and transport strikes. For the visitor, they offer an excellent way to get to know the city's 20 arrondissements, or districts, all of which have their own distinctive markings.

The heart of the capital, on the Ile de la Cité, is where Paris began around 250 BC. Now home to the law courts, a flower market, and the gothic masterpiece Notre Dame, it's a deservedly popular spot. Like most of Paris's landmarks, Notre Dame is always surrounded by people gazing up in awe and wonder. Climb the south tower and you'll be similarly humbled as you look down on the city landscape of grand boulevards, parks, and monuments.

Following your eye along the Seine, you can see the world's most famous museum, the Louvre, and further down, the instantly recognizable Eiffel Tower. Include these on your itinerary and you'll have made a small (but important) chip into the huge block of Paris's famous landmarks, monuments, and museums. It's quite possible that the list could seem overwhelming, but sitting at a pavement café with a strong coffee and a guidebook is a good start, and will certainly put you in the Parisian mood.

A bit of ooh la la

Back in 1889, the Moulin Rouge introduced a seductive, skirts-and-eyebrow-raising dance called the cancan. Today it hosts a sell-out show, though risqué titillation has been replaced by slick dance routines and acrobatics. The Opera National de Paris offers a program of classical ballet and opera, performed at the modern Opera Bastille and the grandiose Palais Garnier. In contrast to these big-scale productions, you'll find live music from rock to chanson throughout the week at venues ranging from scruffy basements to plush auditoriums. Alternatively, try a dinner cruise along the Seine for a traffic-free view of the city's carefully lit architecture.

There are a dizzying number of festivals in Paris, each reinvigorating the city in a unique way. Visit on June 21st for a musical adventure as the city plays host to a free music festival, Fête de la Musique. As the world's capital of cinema, Paris naturally has its own film festival and the highest number of art-house cinemas per inhabitant. Open-air screenings, cinematographic tours, and an eclectic mix of films make up a busy program which is enough to push any blockbuster boundaries.

It's true that people here often have a baguette under their arm. There is a boulangerie (bakery) on almost every street and even if you're not hungry the pastries in the window will probably have a persuasive impact. French cuisine is notoriously sophisticated, but you don't need to find Michelin stars to enjoy it. A neighborhood brasserie can offer a fine meal, a place to watch people come and go, and inspiration for your return visit to the city of light.
