Just had three wonderful days in the Lakes, staying at the Dale Lodge Hotel again. Fabulous hotel, wonderful food, excellent facilities and lovely comfy room with tea-making equipment (and a teapot), biscuits and mints. En-suite facilities lovely with Molton and Brown complementary toiletries. Staff helpful and welcoming. Ideal location for exploring Grasmere, Ambleside etc. Had a lovely meal in Tweedies bar as well (their bar/restaurant). Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Enjoyed our stay at Macdonalds Swan Hotel. We were in room 33 and the view was lovely. The room was very comfortable, clean and catering for your every need. It's our second stay at this hotel and couldn't fault it, but would like to have seen a smile or made to feel more comfortable by one of the waiters.he acted very professional but could have been a little more welcoming.
The hotel has lovely views of the lake. The facilities are up-to-date. It is well situated in the Lakes District relative to various places to visit and ease of travel to other ares of the Lakes (e.g., good bus service).
The staff make this hotel. They are polite, friendly, helpful at all times. Our room (no 7) was comfortable, well maintained. Bathroom was excellent. Could be noisy in summer as the entrance to the pub is just below. Dinner and breakfast very good. Mobile phones do not work, so it is an excellent place to concentrate on the family or relax with a good book!
The scenery is wonderful and of course it is walkers paradise.
The immediate friendliness and professionalism of the hotel's owners was apparent the moment I arrived with my needs and requirments dealt with, within minutes. I was settled in and comfortable before I knew it.
Much appreciated, especially the generously delivered local knowledge about the town of Ambleside itself.
