It is a small hotel located in the center of the city. The breakfast was satisfactory. The room was clean. The pillows were extremely uncomfortable. Otherwise, no other objections.

Dirty hotel.
Rude staff, dirty sheets with other guests before myself, blood stain in one of the towels, roaches in the bathroom, mold in the shower. My 3 nts stay cut off short to one . Can’t stay . No one from the management care. I asked to speak with one , they were in a meeting, the receptionist told me if the hotel is not up to my standards I can leave. A clean environment is important for my lifestyle. My experience was horrible.

It's a modest place, you get what you pay for. The room was very small as was the bed, the floor was beautiful wood, and the room was neat. The breakfast was adequate. Location is central to everything. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend as a great value.

Bargain rates at comfortable safe modern hotel
This property actually seemed too good to be true when I booked it since the room rate was such a bargain. Happily, it turned out to be just as good as the site promised. Room was comfortable, wide selection of TV and audio channels, safe for valuables, mini fridge, bathroom with bidet and hair dryer, and extremely quiet. Breakfast was extensive and even included sandwich makers so one could make a nice hot grilled sandwich with the cold cuts and cheese provided. Cereal, yogurts, fresh fruit, corn bread, croissants, and toast were also available along with several juices, coffee, and water. Dining area is spacious and TV is on in the background. Front desk is always available and staff were efficient, assuring, and helpful in any language. I especially want to commend Gabriel, whom I had the pleasure of helping me with both my checkin and checkout as well as other matters that I needed assistance with during my stay. He is a credit to the hotel. Location is convenient yet quiet and very safe. Lobby has a water cooler and you can come and go as you like at any time. Another plus is that they have universal electrical outlets--no adapter needed. This is truly a bargain in Montevideo with quality accommodations that would cost quadruple in any other city for the level of comfort and service offered here. The hotel has multiple levels but there are quick elevators as well as stairs plus daily housekeeping service. Reserve early as this can fill up quickly.
Made this with the sandwich maker!
Spacious comfortable bed in room with individually controlled heat
Modern TV with over a hundred video and audio channels
Spacious bathroom with both bidet and toilet and hair dryer (left of sink, not in photo)

Location is great but the hotel is OK, my room had a broken window and it was so cold, I had 3 blankets and still cold, next day the front desk staff very kindly just cover the window with tape and gime a portable heater in a very... but very small room. Lost my room key and still charge me 5 US dollars por a plastic card....very cheap...but is ok you get what you paid for.

Rude front end staff. I entered with a loaded touring bicycle which was seen and no reservation. I wasn't told that bicycles were not allowed in the hotel and that there was NO secure place to store it until I had a confirmed reservation and checked in. I found another hotel but had to pay here because they wouldn't refund my hotel.com payment. Watch your back here.

Good and clean hotel in downtown Montevideo. The breakfast is good, but it is exactly the same everyday. The downside was the thin walls. While trying to sleep, we heard a couple's loud conversation in other room.

Hotel is okay, You get what you pay for.
This hotel was decent enough, but you get what you pay for. This hotel sits in the city center, and it is steps away from cafes, stores, shopping, and Independence Plaza. It is on a very busy street, so if you fly into Montevideo and are looking to sleep, get a room in the back of the hotel. The room was very clean, but it was very simple and spare. We had a bed with nightstands, a mini fridge, and that was it. We had to change rooms after the first night because of extremely loud neighbors partying until 5 in the morning, and we didn't want to put up with that during our stay. Also, all the floors in the hotel including the rooms and the hallways are wood, so you can hear everyone walking around above you and in the hallways. Very noisy. The hotel is doing work on the rooms on the second floor, so it gets quite noisy mid-morning if you are on the 3rd floor like we were. The breakfast buffet is all cold items like bread, cereal, juice, and fruit. No eggs or anything else hot. The showers in both rooms were oddly shaped and you have to be a contortionist to shampoo and lather up. The front desk personnel were okay, and one guy was borderline rude and crabby the whole time we were there. We asked for a later checkout....30 minutes more.....and he had a fit. I would stay somewhere else next time and pay a little more to upgrade to a better property.

The hotel is good enough. They're currently renovating, so it should get better. The biggest downside was that the windows are single paned, so they don't block any street noise, which can make for a long night if you're a light sleeper. The WiFi was pretty pathetic and almost unusable. The bathrooms were also so small that you could only sit on the toilet at an angle. It wasn't a big deal for us, but a more discerning traveler might not like that. The breakfast was basic, but fine and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is great if you're intereated in seeing the government buildings and old architecture, but if you're more interested in shopping and night life, Pocitos is a better option. Overall it seemed like a good value for the money.

Older but well maintained hotel
Don't be put off by the neighborhood or initial appearance. This hotel is dated (1950's) but the owners have taken a lot of effort to insure it is well maintained. Rooms were small and sparsely furnished but clean and freshly painted, and the bed furnishings were newer and spotless. Small recently upgraded bathroom with modern furnishings, although hot water took some time to reach the 7th floor in the morning. Be patient! The Breakfast buffet was good fresh food though there were no eggs available. The staff was friendly and helpful. There were a Variety of local restaurants range from Pizza to Parilla. The perfect place for those looking for a good clean inexpensive hotel.

Location and Value
n Uruguay there is no tourist hotel tax! Substantial discount for using credit card at restaurants, better than cash. Location next to Av 18 de Julio, banks and restaurants. Tango-like dancing at dusk every night in closet park to hotel on 18 de Julio. 10 minutes walk to Independence square, Theater Solon, and Old Town. 60% front desk staff spoke English well. Spanish helpful. Limited tourism info. Old and dated. Hotel suited for mid-range tourists, not luxury. Get an interior room! Noise from outside and other room an issue, no fire resistant walls/doors, weak ventilation. Bed good support. Temperature control difficult. A/C so so. Shower so small, you cannot wash without touching walls or curtain. Maids do a good job. Must go to breakfast early for best selection and seating. Overall a decent accommodation, but requires flexibility and adaptability. 24 hour pass on Hop on Hop off a great tour and fantastic photo opportunities. Can start from Independence square or central port market from hotel. First day go later, scenery best Stop 8 to end. Next day go early get off at Stop 8, shop, get lunch and enjoy Las Ramblas area. If you stay too late, taxi back few hundred pesos. Also recommend Puerto Carrisco, but will require car or taxis or a lot of bus transfers and time. Free tour Sundays Theatro Solon, but so cheap anyways.

No complaints for this money
For 45 $ per night is a very good place to stay. Very close to Plaza Independencia and old city. The rooms are very small (european style); bathroom small too. But the room is clean, air condition is working, plasma TV (few chanells use subtitles so you can understand english). It looks that they are renovating second and third floor. The breakfast is ok (ham, cheese, croissants, toast, butter, jam, fruits, milk and cereals, juice, coffee, tea, and yogurt), but the internet is very very very slow. We went to El Milongon Show, where we have experienced music and choreography of candombe, tango, milonga and folk music. Plus good food and free wine. Baar Fun Fun is another place where you can experience tango and Uruguayan food (this is much cheaper than the first one). Be prepared to eat tons of meat ( in their culture/cuisine there is not much vegetables or fish). Mercado del Puerto is a very famous place for barbecue.

All you need
This hotel was sufficient for what we needed. There were two of us and we were visiting for four nights. At first impression the hotel seemed very old fashioned (they still use actual keys rather than cards and nothing seemed to be computerized.) The room was pretty small, but we are used to traveling outside the US and aware that rooms in other countries generally are quite a bit smaller than what we are used to in the US. That being said, the room and hotel were extremely clean and had everything we needed. The location was great, right across from a nice town square with nice eateries and only a couple blocks from the old city. The free breakfast every morning was great and much more than you would get at a US continental breakfast. Overall we were pleased and would stay there again if looking for something in the same price range.
