“Too noisy”

Thge location is excellent, but there are not enough basic facilities, such as laundry. Many people talk loudly for hours in the halls during the night and the hostel staff does nothing about it.

“First time in Brisbane”

I would just like to start by saying that the staff are totally BRILLIANT! However, the nightclub below was just too much for my mind and body to handle. I don't mean that I was in it - I mean I was trying to sleep through it. It's so unfortunate that I feel I wouldn't return for that one reason. I liked having my own room, especially since I had booked to stay in a 4 bunk room, I liked the convenience of the location and the price was just right. But the nightclub noise totally did my head in. Caveat emptor.

“was okay”

really good location just across from central station, close to queen street where alot of the shops are; everything within walking distance. rooms were okay although the hall did smell of pee. bad points were that my charger was too bulky to go in the sockets in the room (which were at floor level) and this meant i had to sit downstairs and wait while they charged; hostel was extremely warm compared to outside even with fans on. bring earplugs!

“Noisy”

Serious problem with the ventilation system noise. In some rooms the noise is like in airplane.

“Convenient But Noisy”

This hostel was right across from Central Station which made traveling to different places, such as Gold Coast, a breeze. It is also in the center of Brisbane with many things around. However, the hostel itself is not as nice. The staff is very helpful and nice and the rooms are clean (though very run down) BUT they have a bar downstairs that is super noisy. At night, people congregate outside the bar (there is another entrance to the bar from the street in addition to inside the hostel). While other hostels have bars, this one is particularly bad. They staff actually announces on a loudspeaker around 9pm or so that beers are on sale. This announcement occurs several times and then you hear people stampeding throughout the halls and such to go downstairs to the bar. Rooms not soundproof at all so imagine hearing drunk people at 3am coming back from all of this. Not very pleasant. I felt like I was in the middle of a high school hallway. If you are going to stay out most of the day to visit Brisabane and are not a light sleeper, I would recommend this hotel because the location is too good to pass up. Otherwise, there are a few hostels further away that is much more quiet.

“Worth looking around”

The worst Base hostel I've stayed in so far. Not good value for money for a single room, very small, more like being in a prison cell! Not the cheapest either!

“somewhere to crash overnight”

As everyone said, the best thing about this place is the location. Beside that, everything else is OLD =)) . The room has nothing beside a bed and a tiny head table (the size of the room is considered small to me and I've been to quite many hostel over years) . I witnessed why someone described "the elevator is too scary to use". It is probably older than the one I saw in QVB (Syd) and not as well maintained. If you stay at level 4 like me, good luck walking. There is no air-conditioner in the room, so if you are travelling during the hot season, be warned. The ceiling fan didn't work in my room. I asked the staff if they have any table fans, they said they already lent out many fans and there is none left. Beside those, the location is great. the staff are friendly, the bar Down under is cheap (dont expect too much out of $10 meals though). The hostel tried to engage everyone to join the night club, the kitchen is ok, the toilet and bathroom is in acceptable condition. To be fair, if you just want somewhere to crash at night like me, this is not bad, considered its opposit Central station! If you want long term stay and a bit more comfy, I am sure you can find many other places with that price (with an air-con! )

“Very poor. Would NOT stay again!”

The place smells like urine everywhere! rooms, down the halls, etc. Very noisy. The only good thing is that it is close to the train station, but there are other accommodation close by also, which would be better of trying than staying here. Another good thing is that they have a roof top, which is cool and backpackers hang in there. it is supposed to the a smoke free environment, but everyone smokes there anyway.
