Our charming stay at Queen Charlotte's Orangery
We stayed with our American friends at Queen Charlottes Orangery and had a very enjoyable stay. We were thrilled at the décor and friendliness. We will recommend to all our friends to stay in this charming place.

A very relaxing experience in a truly historic building. The room was well kept and very clean. Breakfast was taken in the rotunda which looked directly onto the orangery.

Very nice stay
We stayed for two nights and were very comfortable in the huge bed. The walk into Bath center was only 8 minutes. We were made welcome and will book again on our next visit to Bath.

Top quality B&B with historical undertones
A B&B in a good location, about a 10-minute level walk from the Abbey, with the advantage of residents' parking for an extra daily fee. The owners have not skimped on quality - from the very smart décor to the luxury toilet-paper! The property has a sunny, courtyard garden, and the owner provided tea outside on our arrival, which was a lovely touch. The room was full of period furniture - a little too full for my personal taste, and although the owner assured us that we were welcome to make full use of everything, I felt a little inhibited from doing so, as the contents looked rather valuable. I found the property a little pricey for a B&B, but this is not unusual in Bath. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the property to our friends.

Amazing place with very pretty garden
A lovely unique and tranquil place to stay. Easy to park and leave car outside for length of stay. Can walk into centre of bath in under 10 mins. Lovely hosts and rooms are stunning. Pretty garden with direct access from suite. Recommended for a romantic weekend, or for a treat.

Lovely B & B with beautiful courtyard.
Small, private B&B located a short walk across the Pulteney Bridge. Lots of charm and the owners went out of their way to be helpful. The courtyard looks just like the pictures: beautiful flowers and small tables to eat your English breakfast. Would highly recommend!

Charming
We chose this B&B because it was a little bit different. Our room was beautifully presented with a large four poster bed. The linens, towels and gowns were all good quality and although quite a compact room there was space to store the content of two suitcases. The rooms all have a selection of teas, coffee and fresh milk on request. Denise and Greg were great hosts and were very accommodating, allowing us to check in early when we arrived. The third member of the team is Sailor, a very friendly West Highland Terrier. Breakfast is served in the central atrium. Cereal, yoghurt and fresh fruit for starters, an excellent fried option to follow and it's all washed down with coffee and toast. It certainly sets you up for the day. The Orangery is perfectly located for the centre of Bath. A 10 minute stroll and you are at the Roman Baths. I would certainly recommend this little hotel and would definitely stay here again

Great B&B close to the centre
Brilliant B&B, thoughtfully decorated in a classical Italian theme throughout. Building and gardens make for a lovely setting for your stay. Close to the railway line but not overly intrusive. 7 minute walk into the centre of the city. Owners very welcoming and spoil you with a cooked breakfast. A very friendly west highland terrier topped off an enjoyable stay.

Overpriced
The room was prettily decorated in sympathy with the architecture, but it was very tiny. Also we were advised specifically in advance that check in was at 4pm and NOT to arrive before. Yet the following morning we were not allowed to leave the car beyond 11am checkout "in case the next guests needed the parking permit". So the plan of staying overnight in Bath for sightseeing was rather spoiled. Also breakfast was pleasant, but portion control very much in evidence: fruit counted out, tea for 2 was one teabag in a small pot.....overall not worth the money.

The Narnia of Bath.
A small wooden door in a plain wall belies the beauty and tranquillity of this small, but sumptuous hotel. It was like stepping into another world. The breakfast was freshly cooked and the rooms were comfortable with all the amenities you require. The garden was a haven with lots of nooks and crannies which made it magical. Well worth the visit with free parking and easy walking distance from the town centre.

Beautiful, relaxed and very close to Bath city.
A really beautiful B&B which is only a short stroll from the main stretch of Bath. We really enjoyed the furnishings and the stunning garden. A full breakfast was included each morning which was also a plus. The only slight misgivings, and they are certainly not big issues, were the fact that our particular room led straight into the dining hall, so we found ourselves being woken up by people breakfasting early; we found the room tidy a little invasive as all of our clothes and personal possessions had been moved around and put into cupboards when we left the room; and including wifi in the the B&B would have been great as our general reception was poor which made it tricky to research places to visit. But overall, we really did enjoy our time there, especially cuddling the owner's cute dog.

A hidden gem in Bath
If you are looking for a comfortable, quiet and relaxing stay in Bath, this is the hotel to choose. My wife and I have stayed for 3 nights in this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. The place was clean and the food tasty. It was a pleasure to have breakfast or reading in the beautiful small garden adjoining our room. Above all, the owner, Greg, who has been very helpful was eager to make us feel welcome and comfortable. It seems the only improvement called for is the wi-fi service - it was slow inside our room; ok outside the room though. All in all, we highly recommend this hotel!

Fantastic location, friendly host
Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights to celebrate a wedding anniversary. The location is fantastic within easy walking distance to the city. It is also very lovely, although from outside almost invisible. Lovely sunny courtyard to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet, and the room we stayed in was lovely well furnished very clean and quirky. We had breakfast outside every morning as the weather was warm and sunny. Sailor the dog was a delight.

If you love old stuff and quirkiness, this is the place for you. Here you get to meet the owner and have a more social experience. The previous night we stayed in the posh Hotel Bath Spa, but QCO has much more personality and gives you so much more to talk about. Beautiful place.

Tricky to find
We were within yards of the front door three or four times before I braved the rain and found the front door. 93a does not face Sydney Place. Nor does 93. According to the map I consulted and the lack of physical street signs, 93a and 93 face a nameless street. According to the map my husband consulted, they face an extension of Sydney Mews. They was no Orangery sign which could be seen from Sydney Place. (There is no sign at all, just painting on the door.) The parking is in the street. Luckily, we arrived on a Sunday when the parking was free. There is no-one at the Orangery to give you a permit if you arrive before 4pm.

A beautiful place that's full of character
We spent a lovely weekend exploring Bath as part of celebrations for a special occasion. As one who frequents hotel rooms for work, this was a refreshing change. It's an older property decorated in keeping with the style of the building. I wanted something unique and a bit special and this fitted the bill nicely.

If you're going to Bath as a tourist- this is how you want to stay: 8 minutes max walk from the Roman Baths, 4 minutes walk from some highly reviewed restaurants, next to the Holbourne Museum and at the end of Great Pultney Street. Inside it's Georgian splendour- lovely room, huge bed, fluffy towels and sky tv. (We stayed in the Amelia room which has a big double waterfall shower - wonderful) Breakfast is lovely- the fresh fruit is a lovely touch and Greg is so nice (as is the dog!) This place is all about the little touches: even the milk for the tea in your room is fresh and comes in a beautiful china jug. Perfect place for our weekend in Bath.

Very pleasant owners. When booking, I didn't notice there were only 3 rooms and that it was really a B and B and not a hotel. Our room was quite small and ornate, some things quite tired and a little grubby and it definitely was not a kingsized bed. Lovely breakfast room and garden. Easy walk into the centre.

good location, service not so good
The hosts were pleasant and friendly. However, two service-related issues are very prominent in our assessment. On the first morning, we removed a soiled sheet so it can be changed but the same sheet was again used to cover the mattress. Also, the TV was not working the first night and was not usable the second night. We expected an offer for a small refund but none was offered.

Over rated
On the surface the room was decorated on a high standard, in keeping with type of property. However the silver Gothic 4 poster type bed looked as if it had dried blood smeared on one of the bed posts, on closer inspection it was found to have been touched up with bronze paint! The light bulbs didn't match and some didn't work at all. There was no milk offered the first night, then upon request milk was made available the second night in an uncovered jug! But the bottle of water that was offered the first night was not replaced the next night, despite have almost used the whole bottle . Breakfast the first morning had a lovely platter of fresh fruit on offer including mango and a couple of strawberries. However there was no choice of fruit juice, just orange and only marmalade, not any other preserves. The second morning when we entered the dining room for breakfast, the other 4 guests were already seated and no places laid for us, the only other guests. The host then proceeded to erect a garden table for us and we had to request fruit juice and toast, which he was clearly forgetting about. If this was an inexpensive B & B then the complaints would not have been noted, but it is being marketed as an up-market establishment!!!

Location : Ace. close enough to town, to walk to and from hotel. But not too close to get disturbed. Parking: Free, roadside. Reception: Very friendly. No particular rules, paperwork dilemma. easy and comfortable. Staff: very homely, Sailor the dog is the star, honestly miss him. Room: a bit cramped. very Victorian, but tight. Bath: spacious and comfy. TV: Normal free view. Garden: Beautiful to have a cuppa in the sun.

What a little gem!!
We had a bit of trouble finding the Queen Charlottes Orangery as it is behind what appears to be a garden wall and is around the corner from a main road. How ever we were very glad we did find it. It is a charming place, not perfect , but so beautifully OTT and interesting. We were greeted by the very charming owner and shown to our small but rather lovely room. It had a four poster bed, with beautifully painted uprights, a lovely wrought iron(I think) headboard and really good quality bedding and embroidered cushions. however , the bed was a little noisy! The decor was a little tired but was not at all off putting. The whole ambiance was wonderful and the breakfast really good. The only downsize was the room was smaller than expected but the rest more than made up for it. The owners lovely little dog (a scottie or highland terrier???I don't really know ) was, for us, an added bonus.

If your thinking of heading to Bath, you'd be mad not to book here, providing they have availability! It's a pure one-off! A gloriously quirky gem!
From the moment you enter through the door-in-the-wall, you know you're in a remarkable place! You walk straight in to a circular room, with several doors leading off - it can be a bit of a challenge remembering which one is yours! The whole building is decorated & furnished in High Georgian style and the Italianate garden is a lovely little place to be. Easy walking distance to the interesting parts of Bath centre, and safe parking by the door, even if you're in a car that doesn't lock...Greg & Sailor the westie are excellent hosts (and yes, you ARE expected to say 'Hello Sailor' regularly :-) A total delight for those who like the quirky - as my wife said 'it's like being back in Venice'! Cannot recommend it enough..

Queen Charlotte's Orangery Review
Good location for walking into town. Heatwave made the room too hot and, because of the location, could not cool down. Would have been nice to have been offered an electronic fan. Limited accessible electrical outlets. Good outdoor breakfast area. Difficult to find hotel - had to drive around a lot to find it (mainly because of the address.) Probably would have had a better experience without the heat. Eventually saw other hotels that seemed to offer more for the money on Pultney Street.

A hidden gem!
Such a refreshing change from the usual hotel chains we stay at. I decided to go for something different this time and thank goodness I did. We loved it and will most definitely return there. Only 3 rooms and we had a small suite. Personal attention to detail and the owners could not do enough to make our stay comfortable.
