My honest review of la petit Salil at thonglor
Check in experience is ok nothing to wow. Not particularly warm Or pleasantly impressionistic. Prob I arrived at the time when staff were having dinner n my checkin somewhat disrupted their meal time. A little shock when the chambermaid intentionally left me a note that “amenities can be purchased from the front desk” on the second/third day after seeing me finishing my daily entitlement. While the room is spacious n well laid out, it unfortunately shares the same narrow walkway or corridors of diners at the cafe which I had to manoeuvre skilfully which would otherwise knock chair of the diners seated along that passage. Not to say about the noise generated from utensils and cutleries from the diners and waiters in the morning if u stay in such room assigned to me. That said, the room is quite self sufficient although the furniture looks a little vintage. It comes with hair dryer, a mini umbrella and a microwave oven. V thoughtful gesture. The mini fridge provided is actually quite big compared to other 5 star hotel. The only person whom I felt warm N pleasant is Wilson, the concierge. He provides free shuttle rides to thonglor bts from 7 am to 7 pm. It was a pity that it was his sullen n grouchy colleague who dropped us at the bts station on our last day. No greetings or even a gesture to help with our luggage. This hotel is for those who want no frills or no element of pleasant experience in bkk.

Fall from grace?
This has been my go-to hotel in Bangkok. I was expecting less in these belt-tightening post-COVID days, but was gratified to note some actual improvements: bidet/douche attachments on the toilets and much improved toiletries, for instance. On the other hand, the breakfast buffet is about 15% less lavish than before, and the scrambled eggs are best described as lonely curds in egg soup. Oh well. I woke up after a couple of hours of sleep on my first night to an odor resembling that of Bangkok sewage and/or dead animal coming from the room A/C. The staff admirably had me in a new room within half an hour. Unfortunately the new room was next to the previous one, so guess what I began smelling a couple of hours later. The manager did ask me after breakfast if the new room were satisfactory, and I had to answer negatively; the staff told me to pack my bags and await a phone call for another room. That call never came. Granted, they had a repairman out to fix the A/C in the defective room, and the odor began to subside in my new room, so I decided it wasn't worth pressing the issue. But that was a morning wasted. Accidents happen, but I'm not sure I'll be staying there again.

The hotel is located away from the main highway therefore very little traffic noise. Pubs and shops are all in walking distane. The staff throughout the hotel were very friendly and welcomi. I will stay here again..

Thai pass 1 day quarantine test and go program
We did the Test & Go (1 day quarantine in this hotel). they picked us up from the airport and had a nurse to do the test in the hotel. Overall experience was good, the only reason I wouldn't say it was great I had to wait 1h to be picked up from the airport and 22h for my covid test (I did the test at 6pm got the result at 4pm next day). My friend had his test at 10am and his result came back at 8pm. The staff were nice and friendly but it was difficult to understand their accents sometimes.

Love this hotel
The staff is over-the-top helpful. The price is great for the value. The condition of the hotel is awesome and the food in the hotel is excellent. Really enjoyed the pool,also. The service by the staff is really what stands out as it is better than most similarly priced hotels in the area and I have stayed at several.
