The minute I walked into the hotel I was welcomed with open arms.
I asked for an outward facing room on the Premier floor.
I was upgraded with a smile.
The room was big and bright with an amazing view.
The next morning I decided to have breakfast.
I thought it finished at 11 so arrived around 10.
I was informed that breakfast was over but I was still welcome to sit and be taken care of.
Over the few days when ever I needed written translations of my destinations they were produced quickly and with a smile.
My bill had a wrong mini bar entry but this was quickly cancelled without question.
This is my 2nd time staying with Hua Ting. A family of four with two young boys, we need flexibility, convenience, cleanness and space. Hua Ting provides all those conditions, with its perfect location (walking distance to a number of favored restaurants and transportation stations), flexible hours and revamped interior decor. We loved it. The boys were amazed at the night view of the landscape and went for the "see through" elevator every time day and night. Staff was friendly and professional. The only thing to complain was the check-in process. I had to wait for 15 minutes before being attended. There could be more staff on duty for evening check-in hour (it was a working day around 19:00). There was a line of guests.
For anyone wanting to stay on the Bund side of Shanghai this hotel has much to offer. The room was not large but well laid out and the view from the bathtub was superb, right up Bund and across to Pearl Tower and Pudong; like Disneyland at night. The room had everything required to make for an excellent stay. The staff were very attentive and polite at all times. The breakfast was fine and if you wanted to read or have a tea during the latter morning or afternoon there is lounge available, with views. The hotel is on the southern edge of the Bund, so you may need to get a taxi to go places in the evening. The Metro station is not close, however a walk along the Bund while enjoying the view will certainly pass the time well!

I was greeted very warmly at the front desk, and the attending staff member had great English. He helped give me some directions about the city and was attentive to details about my baggage, next day check out, and room preferences without me having to be assertive (not always the case in China). What impressed me most though was that it was not only the staff on the "front lines" that were excellent. The maid that came by my room asked me in English if I needed anything, the staff at breakfast were excellent, and again - Good English Proficiency.
This is my favorite hotel in Shanghai so far.
"Excellent hotel, close all forms of transportation"
Family stay, adult children's family having lived sparsely in China for several years stayed with Grandparents just arriving in Shanghai and fully enjoyed the amenities and location. We especially enjoyed the upscale and modern feel and attention to patron comfort. Being a botique hotel, the location may be considered odd, however, it is a perfect introduction to "life" in China! We WILL stay here again, upon our departure from China!
We just spent 3 nights at this fabulous hotel (Oct 2014). One of the best quality price hotel we experienced worldwide. Try to get a room with a direct view on the Pudong. Magical (particularly on night). Luxurious large bedroom with living room, large marble bathroom with bath, shower, 2 sinks. English speaking staff. Incredible breakfeast buffet and other restaurant in the hotel. Free spa access including: pool, hot tub, dry and wet sauna.***** stars.
