"I wanted to like Areca this time. When I’ve stayed here in the past, the rooms were very outdated, the wifi connection was awful and the staff was cold. So when I learned that the hotel underwent a complete remodel of their rooms, I was ready to give Areca another try. Their location off Soi Diana is very convenient and their room rates are ideal at $50 usd per night with breakfast. Unfortunately, the remodeled room and the hallways to the rooms was not up to par. "Location location location. Sandalay Resort is in the perfect location. There is no other hotel with a better view of the beach in a prime central location. We enjoyed our stay very much. Breakfast was excellent, staff were great. We did not go to the bar at night but there was live music every night with English music. Property is a bit older but do not let that stop you from booking as it is very clean. We stayed in a suite with a balcony with beautiful views. Highly recommend!"

"Hotel was dirty. When I was checking in, they sent me to two rooms that were completely unacceptable. In one room the AC didn’t work. The other had a terrible smell. The room I settled on was OK. The bed was very hard. The breakfast was very limited and not very good. The pool area is dirty. I never wanted to use the pool. Overall the hotel needs cleaning and updating. I will not stay here again."
