"The Mercure is an older and I suspect much grander hotel at one time. It has a sense of opulence about it with wide staircases, high ceilings and stained glass windows, however there are also signs of aging, i.e. worn carpets, old windows. I think it adds to the charm. "Love this hotel which has also had a wee upgrade since being taken over by its new owners recently but still retains its warm welcome for visitors as well as being a popular venue for locals. "The hotel was very quiet as Cults is a suburb, but they did host a birthday party on the Saturday night which was directly below our room and was incredibly noisy (we could sing along). On the other two nights it was quiet despite being on a main road. The staff are friendly and the food is ok. In future we might check about events or at least ask to be moved."
